Join Philips' Digital Processing group, part of Philips Innovation & Design (I&D), where you will develop embedded application software for real, next‑generation healthcare devices. Within I&D, the Innovation Engineering (IEN) group transforms advanced concepts into working, scalable systems. One of its key pillars, Product & Systems Engineering (P&SE), ensures seamless integration of hardware, embedded software, and connectivity across our product platforms.
The Electronic Systems & IoT (ESI) cluster under P&SE focuses on embedded systems and connectivity for new medical and high‑tech solutions. The Digital Processing team specifically works on microcontroller‑based devices such as wearable health patches and smart sensor modules. The team develops signal processing, data acquisition, power‑efficient embedded software, and reliable connectivity features that enable accurate real‑time performance in monitoring and connected‑care applications. We combine expertise in C++ development, digital signal processing, microcontroller design, and medical‑grade software engineering to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet strict regulatory standards.
Your role:
As an Embedded Software Engineer at Philips, you will work on the full lifecycle of embedded software for medical devices—ranging from early prototypes to production‑ready solutions.
Design and implement embedded software (primarily C++ on microcontrollers) for next‑generation medical wearables and sensor devices.
Design and implement embedded software for for next-generation medical devices.
Participate in requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and release.
Ensure software compliance with quality norms and participate in design/code reviews.
Develop automated unit tests and integration tests within chosen frameworks.
Estimate work, contribute to planning, and maintain personal/team backlogs.
Document developed software and report progress in a structured manner.
You're the right fit if:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software development.
Proven track record in Agile/Scrum methodologies, C++ coding, and object-oriented analysis and design on resource-constrained microcontroller platforms, applying SOLID principles.
Experience with build/test tools (CMake) and developing connectivity solutions (BLE, Wi-Fi, Cellular).
Knowledge of medical regulatory standards (ISO13485, IEC62304)
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, scripting, and software quality tools.
