Position Summary:

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for representing Herbold Meckesheim, US (a Coperion brand) in the capacity of service providing hands-on technical assistance, installation support, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, refurbishing, upgrades, and training at customer sites or remotely.

Work You’ll Do:

  • Represent the company in the capacity of Service Representative providing assistance and advice to customers and/or assigned personnel, including identifying opportunities to cross or upsell equipment. Provide feedback on information received in the field on Coperion equipment and others.
  • Install, troubleshoot, overhaul and/or maintain gear boxes, lube oil systems, drive components, process sections, downstream equipment such as pelletizers, gear pump systems and other associated equipment. Assist customers to start-up newly installed equipment and train customer personnel as needed.  Participation in classroom type training may be required.
  • Must be responsible, dependable, plus safety-minded. and work in accordance with all Coperion policies and standards as well as adhere to all customer safety, drug, and alcohol control regulations and procedures.
  • When not on travel assignment, provide on-call assistance to customers via various channels (phone, email, video call, etc.), assist with service report preparation and distribution, create field information packages for self, team, or the Company, and/or other related tasks.
  • Keep accurate records by providing highly detailed reports and submitting them to appropriate partners in a timely manner.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours (holidays, weekends) and travel extensively in accordance with field service travel regulations. Responsibilities will include travel in blocks of up 3 weeks (North America) and up to 12 weeks when travelling outside North America; must have a valid passport and driver's license with clean driving record.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Electrical capabilities and programming
  • Safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30 (General Industry)
  • Proven ability to provide project supervision, guidance, and project management for a team of millwrights and mechanical craft workers during equipment installation and equipment maintenance projects.
  • Experience troubleshooting, methodical technical documenting, guiding and/or performing assembly, dis-assembly and repair of industrial equipment while using appropriate tools in a safe and effective manner, with a knowledge of basic wiring, electrical and control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and understand equipment drawings (General arrangement, assembly, exploded views, cross-section views, dimensions, tolerance, electrical wiring diagrams, etc.)
  • The ability to write clear, concise routine correspondence as well as comprehensive documents (PFD, P&ID, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, functional descriptions, equipment manuals, etc.)
  • Knowledge of word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), PowerPoint.
  • Must have valid passport, driver’s license, and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in technical fields such as Mechanical or Electrical
  • Must have excellent professional verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills and be skilled in coordinating and organizing with attention to detail.
  • Proven experience working in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
