Wellstar Douglas in Douglasville, Georgia is seeking a PRN Imaging Liaison for our Mammography Department. This position will work PRN - as needed. The Imaging Liaison functions under the direction of the Chief Technologists and Site Manager. Responds to customer requests and answers questions. Calls patients with results of screening mammogram, schedules patients for additional imaging if needed. Ensures all necessary information is accurately recorded in the scheduling module. Assists patient in obtaining diagnostic mammogram and/or ultrasound order if needed. Assists patients in obtaining prior mammography exams for comparative purposes. Digitize prior analog images and upload into PACS network. Upload outside CD images into PACS network. Work with radiologists to ensure addendums are dictated in a timely manner. Responsible for performing a wide variety of clerical procedures that requires independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of computers and other equipment. Knows the existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable and cooperative. Works with staff and understands appropriate scheduling process, willing to learn procedures/patient preps. Assist physician's office staff with scheduling issues in a timely manner. Handle heavy phone volume. Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Assist with departmental QC functions. Ensure that mammography patient result "lay letters" are printed and sent to each patient per FDA regulations.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Customer Service:
* Greets all guests with a positive and professional attitude
* Answers incoming phone calls and follows through with requests
* Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with WHS and HIPPA regulations
* Works with referring physician offices staff to ensure a positive working environment
* Maintains courteous and cooperative working relationship with management, patients, physicians, and other professional contacts and the general public.
* Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations
* Meets service recovery and customer service guidelines
* Escort patient to changing area when needed.
Scheduling and Order Procurement:
* Proficiently schedule patient for procedures at WellStar
* Knowledge of related breast imaging exams and exam preps if indicated
* Knowledge of testing frequencies based on insurance guidelines and CMS guidelines
* Knowledge of basic computer skills in order to input patient demographics, edit existing data or look up data inquiries
* Knowledge of Medical Imaging facilities operating hours and locations
* Ask exam pre-screening questions to ensure that a patient fits the criteria or doesnt have any conditions that would contra-indicate the test being performed
* Obtaining and correcting an order in advance of patient appointment
* Assisting registration with obtaining correct order.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
* Check exams on the QC inadequate list
* Assist department management with TJC QC
* Check incomplete work list ensures studies are dictated in a timely manner
Mammography Patient Liaison Duties
* Calls screening mammography patients with their results
* Calls addendum results to mammography patients
* Ensure all patient result lay letters printed and mail per protocol
* Fill out addendum forms completely and accurately
* Request outside images
* Upload CDs or Digitize analog prior studies into PACS, order outside image exams as needed.
* Fix up outside images in PACS so comparative review displays appropriately for Radiologist.
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma Required or equivalent. Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.


Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years related experience working in a healthcare environment Preferred


Required Minimum Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making/problem solving, organizational/time management, analytical and computer.
Must be able to tolerate stressful situations and maintain pleasant disposition under adverse circumstances.
Typing or data entry competency of at least 40 words/minute.
