We are in search of a Senior Microsoft Active Directory Systems Engineer to join our task force with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program which provides Information Technology Service to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability. The successful candidate will provide direct support to HUD enterprise network systems and manage Windows server infrastructure solutions across multiple solution areas within the environment.

This is a remote position. The desired candidate should have a track record of working effectively within a team, as well as experience supporting peers toward improved processes and results.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support for implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining of identity management systems.  Rapidly distinguish isolated user problems from enterprise-wide application/system problems and provide recommended solutions.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop, and implement solutions associated with incident tickets and requirements.

  • Develop, test and document solutions to complex identity management technical issues.

  • Build and deploy Domain Controllers and other identity management servers through remote means at customer sites utilizing approved installation procedures.

  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for root cause analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor junior team members.

  • Update triage, troubleshooting, and maintenance documentation for 24/7/365 enterprise watch personnel. 

  • Support operations across multiple geographic locations and networks.

  • Develop solutions to complex technical issues.

  • Configure and maintain complex Active Directory forests and domains across a complex network with thousands of users and Active Directory objects.

  • Create advanced monitoring strategies for monitoring and reporting health of Active Directory components.

  • Continually monitor environment to ensure best practices and Federal guidelines are being followed.

  • Monitoring, backup, and restoration procedures for Active Directory.

  • Analysis, design, capacity planning and implementation of Active Directory Security.

  • Conducts complex troubleshooting and repair tasks on Active Directory, Windows Server 2012-2019, Domain Controllers, user authentication and other operational systems as needed.

  • Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

  • Develop and produce documentation, SOPs, reports, and presentation slide decks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires bachelor’s in a technical field or related field a minimum of 4 years of continuous prior Microsoft Active Directory experience or a master’s with 2 years of prior relevant experience. Equivalent years of experience may substitute for a degree.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

  • Have at least five (5) years of experience and knowledge working with and troubleshooting authentication protocols, Kerberos, SAML, OAUTH and LDAP.

  • Extensive (at least 5 years) experience with Windows Active Directory services.

  • Extensive (at least 5 years) experience with Domain Name Service.

  • Extensive (at least 5 years) experience with Server 2016 R2 & 2019 administration.

  • Experience with physical Dell and virtual (VMware/Hyper-V/Acronis) servers.

  • Project Management - at least three (3) years of experience leading technical projects.

  • Familiarity with client/server hardware and software configuration.

  • Experience with Nutanix virtualization.

  • Experience with Certificate Authority installation, configuration, and administration.

  • Familiarity with networking concepts

  • Experience (at least 3 years) with creating and/or modifying scripts (batch, vbs, PowerShell).

  • Three (3+) years or more working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex and fast paced environment.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with government staff, managers, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level experience in one or more Microsoft back-office technologies (SQL Server, IIS, Exchange Server, etc).

  • Master’s Degree in an Information Technology Discipline.

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, and/or Active Directory certifications.

  • Must have knowledge of Windows scripting technologies (Windows PowerShell).

  • Project Management principles.

  • Enterprise IT ticketing systems.

  • VMware virtual environments.

This is an SCA program, with the program located in the DC area with predetermined rates. The rates will will be based off a $43.26 rate for the Washington DC area, but may change based on the chosen candidate's location.

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
