Reporting directly to the Director of Income / Property Tax, the Sr. Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for all state income tax matters, including accurate and timely tax return compliance, ASC 740 provision and audits.  While the focus will be on state income taxes, the position will provide support on federal income tax matters as needed.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare and/or review federal and state income tax returns
  • Prepare and /or review quarterly estimated and year end extension payments
  • Assist in quarterly and year-end tax provision in accordance with ASC 740-10
  • Assist in income tax audits and respond to Information Document Requests
  • Calculate state tax apportionment and state modification adjustments
  • Respond timely to notices from state tax jurisdictions
  • Monitor all technical developments in state tax law which impacts BJ’s
  • Research tax issues as they arise
  • Review quarterly income tax account reconciliations
  • Special projects as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years of corporate tax experience
  • CPA or MST strongly preferred
  • In depth understanding of corporate federal and state income tax laws and their application, including legislative changes and current developments
  • Significant experience in large corporation multi-state income tax return preparation and review
  • Proficient with RIA Checkpoint, SAP, Thomson OneSource (or similar), and Microsoft suite
  • Excellent communication, writing, tax research skills; strong multitasker, collaborative team player and problem solver


In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $80,000.00.
