T. Rowe Price is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program, driving the development and scaling of our risk and governance structure. As the Head of Enterprise Risk Management, you will lead the team to develop risk identification frameworks and measurement tools, as well as the deployment of risk management practices across our global organization. You will play a critical role in initiating and managing the annual enterprise-wide risk assessment process, ensuring alignment with T. Rowe Price mission, vision, and strategic goals.
This position will be based in Baltimore, MD reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
Role Summary
Responsible for presenting analytics to business leadership with oversight for corporate risk and communicating the firm’s risk management structure, processes, and business unit risk management efforts. Responsible for the implementation of processes, procedures, and tools to ensure risks are adequately mitigated.
Responsibilities:
- Works with risk management resources to identify and evaluate risks and exposures associated with products, services, third parties, technologies, operations, policies, and business processes. Oversees the organization and analysis of data used for the measurement of risk. Identifies global, firmwide operational risks and ensures they are well managed and controlled.
- Develops and implements appropriate control standards, the preparation of risk self-assessments, and the development of risk mitigation programs. Provides guidance and assistance in the implementation and ongoing review of appropriate programs to ensure that material risks are identified, understood, managed, and communicated.
- Coordinates risk management issues between business units and corporate functions. Guides and advises management on appropriateness of risk acceptance as opposed to mitigation action. Works closely with compliance and internal audit groups to ensure appropriate coordination and avoid overlap of responsibilities. Keeps leadership informed on risk issues.
- Serves as a risk management expert for a business unit or cross-functional strategic projects. Identifies key areas of business unit risk and mitigation strategies for leadership to review. Assists management with risk reporting. Monitors the status of risk mitigation strategies and internal audit activities and consults with the business to ensure completion.
- Manages diverse teams of associates with responsibility for selection, training and development, and performance management in order to develop high-performing departments. Responsible for forecasting future resource needs based on proposed future initiatives and augmenting staff accordingly. Accountable for the financial and human resources of multiple departments to include budgeting, staffing, etc. Acquires technology vendor contractor resources of varying skill sets when necessary and manages the project activities of these resources.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
- 12+ years of total relevant work experience and 5+ years of management experience
- Strong Enterprise Risk Management or Operational Risk background within a financial services firm.
Preferred:
- Proven experience in enterprise risk management, with a track record of developing and scaling risk programs in global and complex organizations.
- Leadership qualities that inspire and motivate teams to achieve strategic objectives.
- Ability to effectively convey complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to interpret data and trends to inform risk decision-making.
- Experience in developing board and other management reports to provide view on key risk to firm.
- Professional experience in asset management and/or financial services industry
FINRA Requirements
FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to two days per week from home.
Base salary ranges:
$212,500.00 - $350,000.00 for the location of: California, New York
TBD for the location of: Washington, D.C
$170,500.00 - $291,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and All other US locations
Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
