The National Director of Retail Accounts is responsible for the support and execution of the retail accounts strategy. The role is focused on growing insurance sales through strategic directives to maximize our opportunities and ensuring efficient and effective support models. This role will be part of the leadership team and will be accountable for helping to drive our leadership, performance management and employee engagement initiatives. Acting a key bridge between our Retail Accounts and the Head of Retail Accounts and Business Development, excellence in communication and partnership with the following teams is essential for success:
· Sales Leadership team (RDLT)
· Distributors and Advisors
· Distributor Relationship management team
· Contracting, Compliance, Compensation departments
· Sales Training & Development
· Product and Marketing
· Retail Sales Intelligence
· Underwriting
· Professional Services
Responsibilities
Retail Account Oversight
Manage and oversee components of our retail account strategy
· Coordinate and manage firm override and compensation
· Effective management and coordination of the marketing allowance program
· Key resource for RVPs on retail account issues
Coordinate and identify firm and principal communication
Manage and coordinate NAC product approvals
Be responsive to field readiness, as it applies to retail accounts
Leadership in Sales Support and Strategy
Develop, execute, and implement strategies to help the Insurance Sales team drive forward key initiatives with our retail accounts
· Coordinate National firm events (ie: HUB days, IDC University, Insurance Specialist meetings)
· Develop impactful “Guiding Principals” for the Insurance Sales team
· Deliver national distributor and back-office training
· Organize wholesaler calls focused on specific firms
Collaborate with HO to launch effective products and marketing initiatives.
Leverage your deep product and industry knowledge with internal business partners to co-create effective sales presentations and materials
Assist with the development of creative communications strategies focused on the Sales teams of our distributors
Review and Enhance Sales Reporting for maximum impact
Develop consistent RVP Firm review packages/material support
Proactively identify opportunities and activities to support our RVPs, distributors and their advisors
Account Management
Dedicated account leadership for a selected number of firms
Effective onboarding of new firms

What we are looking for
Post-secondary education, preferably in business
8 to 10 years of experience in the financial services industry with a deep knowledge of Individual Insurance products and sales strategies
Working towards of have obtained CFP, CLU, CHFC, CHS designations
Excellent understanding of Manulife insurance and living benefit products, concepts, administration, systems & value proposition
Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry and distribution in Canada
In-depth understanding of the competitive environment and its impact on participants
Proven budget and business planning experience
Understanding of other financial products including investments, banking solutions, group pension, and group benefit products
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Excellent influencing, training and coaching skills
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skill
Excellent communication, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with sales leaders
Networking, negotiation and influencing skills; not afraid to ask for the business.
Strong capabilities in seeing opportunities to drive results
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and exercise judgment in a changing environment
Detail and planning orientation required
Continual forward thinking and seeing around corners
Being able to keep up in a fast paced environment, and make good business decisions quickly
Communicating tough messages
Need for a vehicle for face to face client meetings
