Co-op Assignment Overview

Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2025 cycle with experience in Information Technology and an interest in life sciences to join the IT team. The infrastructure and Cybersecurity team is responsible for IT infrastructure, network, cloud, and information security, and Prime Medicine. By partnering with internal and external partners we deliver and support enterprise class infrastructure needs that enable our scientists to accelerate the development of our gene therapies. We are looking for highly motivated aspiring IT professionals who are looking to gain valuable experience in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and cloud computing. The internship focuses on enhancing the understanding of IT infrastructure, project support, and the back- end operations of IT.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Infrastructure co-op will assist with management and maintenance of organization’s IT systems, onsite and cloud infrastructure, networks and storage
  • S/he will be the first point of escalation for network (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi), and other infrastructure related issues
  • Assist the Network and infrastructure team with the support and documentation of existing and new environments
  • Create custom canned reports extract data in Excel, create Pivot tables and use Excel formulas to normalize data for input
  • Shadow Infrastructure teams and develop documentation, network designs and coordinate infrastructure vendor meetings and reviews.
  • Convert small tasks into finite deliverable mini-projects accountable for results
  • Capture meeting notes and cross validate with others to ensure requirements / problem symptoms are accurately captured
  • Extract and review Incidents and Service Requests from past to analyze and generate meaningful insights on the types of problems reported and create metrics for review
  • Create PowerPoint presentations based on data provided to show trends and highlight key observations
  • Analyze spreadsheets to derive meaningful results
  • Monitor cloud systems usage, outages, system performance and alerts generated identifying critical events from the warning noise based on good practice judgement calls

 Qualifications:

  • Candidate studying IT, information systems, or cybersecurity related fields.
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between tech and business terminologies
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new tech
  • Basic understanding of cloud and onsite computing systems
  • Basic understanding of digital technology project phases (requirements gathering, testing, etc.)
  • Familiarity and interest in cloud computing, network infrastructure, storage and backup, cybersecurity
