Role Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated Accident & Health (A&H) Underwriter to join our dynamic underwriting team, reporting to the Vice President, Head of A&H APAC. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting accident and health insurance products, including pricing and analytics, and supporting our business strategy across the APAC region. This role requires a deep understanding of the A&H insurance market and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have a background in insurance, reinsurance, or consulting, with significant exposure to the APAC market.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal A&H treaties, ensuring profitability, compliance with company standards, and alignment with the company’s risk appetite.

  • Pricing & Analytics: Develop and maintain health product pricing models, perform actuarial analysis, and leverage data analytics to guide decision-making and improve underwriting strategies.

  • Market Insights & Strategy: Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes within the APAC region. Provide insights and recommendations to shape underwriting strategies and product offerings.

  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with cedants, brokers, and other stakeholders to manage partnerships and drive growth. Negotiate terms and conditions to ensure optimal deal structures.

  • Product Development: Work closely with stakeholders and contribute to the creation of new product solutions that align with market needs.

  • Team Collaboration: Actively engage with cross-functional teams, including claims, actuarial, legal, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of underwriting and pricing activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  •  Experience: 5-15 years of experience from an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting background, with a strong focus on health insurance product pricing and analytics. Exposure to the APAC market is essential.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of A&H insurance products, risk management principles, and pricing models. Proficiency in analytical tools and software used for pricing and underwriting.

  • Educational Background: A degree in Insurance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field. Actuarial qualifications or other industry certifications will be an advantage.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically and strategically, with strong problem-solving skills and a keen understanding of market dynamics in the APAC region.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Adaptability: Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for business growth and process improvement.

  • Language: Knowledge of one additional local language in the APAC region is preferred.
