Position Summary:
The Principal, Digital and AI Strategy, Oncology & Multispecialty is a visionary leader responsible for shaping and executing the digital and AI strategy across McKesson’s Oncology & Specialty business units. This role drives the adoption of transformative technologies, establishes governance and standards, manages the proliferation of technology and vendors, and ensures responsible and impactful integration of AI solutions to advance cancer care.
You will collaborate with clinical, IT, business, and external partners to deliver a robust technology roadmap, optimize operational efficiency, and improve patient outcomes across all business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Standards

• Develop, implement, and maintain governance frameworks and technology standards for digital and AI solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FDA AI/ML guidance).
• Oversee the modernization and compliance of the vendor portfolio, ensuring technology solutions meet McKesson’s standards for security, interoperability, and scalability.
• Facilitate discussions on AI governance, ethical considerations, and strategic alignment across all business units.

Technology & Vendor Management

• Evaluate, recommend, and drive vendor selection strategy with Clinical, Business, and IT leaders.
• Manage relationships with strategic technology partners, biopharma companies, regulatory bodies, and healthcare providers.
• Oversee the operational aspects of oncology services, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient resource utilization.
• Develop multi-year product and strategy roadmaps, define pilot programs, and maintain product playbooks to refresh and modernize technology offerings.

AI Adoption & Enablement

• Identify, research, and evaluate emerging AI technologies and trends relevant to oncology and specialty healthcare.
• Lead identification of early AI use cases, pilot programs, and cross-functional initiatives to drive responsible exploration and adoption of AI across all business units.
• Design and deliver educational programs, workshops, and resources to upskill internal teams on AI concepts, risks, and opportunities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and internal consultant on AI-related topics, promoting a culture of responsible AI awareness and literacy.

Strategic Leadership & Advisory

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize oncology care delivery, leveraging digital and AI innovations.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on digital and AI strategy, readiness, and market developments.
• Produce strategic insights, white papers, and executive-level presentations to inform leadership and guide decision-making.
• Collaborate with external partners, academic institutions, and industry groups to stay at the forefront of AI and digital innovation.

Operational Excellence & Innovation

• Shape customer-centric product roadmaps, set KPIs, and execute product innovation through technology partnerships.
• Drive research and development initiatives, focusing on novel therapies, clinical trial designs, and improved patient access.
• Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and adjust strategies to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
• Lead workshops and problem-solving sessions with internal and external stakeholders to unleash creativity and drive strategic improvements.

Minimum Qualifications: Degree or equivalent and typically requires 13+ years, with 8+ years, of direct workrelated experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.

Physical Requirement : “We are Flex and Connect with 2 days a week in office.” 

Required Skills :

• 10+ years of experience in healthcare technology strategy, AI, or Med Tech environments, including leadership roles in oncology and specialty health.
• Deep understanding of AI technologies (machine learning, NLP, generative AI), healthcare trends, clinical development, and regulatory environments.
• Proven experience in strategic planning, product management, vendor management, and cross-functional leadership.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills; ability to influence senior executive leadership and translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated strengths in managing people, mentoring teams, and driving organizational change.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience in academic research, publishing, or consulting in AI or healthcare domains is a plus.

Travel Requirement :

5-15% expectation on Travel.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $143,600 - $239,300
