Position Summary

The Tax & Funds Executive is responsible for overseeing the accurate processing of company taxes and compliance including employee-related tax, administration of employee funds including Provident Fund, Gratuity, Workers' Profit Participation Fund (WPPF) and Workers Welfare Fund (WWF). This role assists Manager Tax and Funds to ensure timely tax filings, Funds accounts maintenance, statutory filings, supports statutory audits and fund investments including government compliance, and internal control procedures.

Location: Lahore, Pakistan

The Role (daily responsibilities)

Taxation & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Income Tax Ordinance, VAT, PRA, and FED regulations for employee and vendor-related deductions.
  • Prepare tax returns and statutory filings (e.g., withholding statements, VAT returns).
  • Liaise with tax consultants and respond to notices from FBR and PRA.
  • Issue tax certificates to employees and manage employer tax statements.
  • Manage payroll-related tax calculations including employee income tax and timely deposit of withholding taxes.

PAC (Provident, Gratuity, WPPF and WWF ) Administration

  • Maintain individual employee records for Provident and Gratuity funds.
  • Process PF withdrawals, contributions, and transfers in compliance with internal policies.
  • Oversee investments of employee funds and ensure timely reconciliation of fund bank accounts.
  • Ensure compliance and timely disbursement of WPPF payments and returns to labor departments.
  • Organize and document meetings of Fund Trustees and coordinate actuarial evaluations.

Audit & Reporting

  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll, PAC, and fund management.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reconciliations (e.g., blackline, VAT, fund accounts).
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to Internal Control Procedures (ICP) related to payroll and PAC.

Coordination & Miscellaneous

  • Liaise with banks, government bodies, and auditors for smooth fund and payroll operations.
  • Assist and support ongoing litigations related to labor matters when required.
  • Stay vigilant on cyber-security risks related to payroll systems.
  • Handle unplanned tasks as directed, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.

The Candidate (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Certification in taxation, or compliance (e.g. ICAEW, ICAP, or PIPFA) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in tax compliance.
  • Experience in handling Provident Fund, Gratuity Fund, and WPPF-related activities is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations (Income Tax, VAT, PRA, FED), and internal control processes
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliation reports).
  • Knowledge of Blackline reconciliation and journal entries.
  • Comfort working with financial audits and statutory reporting formats.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Capacity to manage deadlines, unplanned tasks, and pressure situations.
  • Strong understanding of Internal Control Procedures (ICP) in finance.
  • Willingness to engage with government bodies, auditors, and legal advisors when needed.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of statutory laws and tax reforms impacting funds.
