Securities Services Sanctions Operations (SSSO) is a global function of Level 2 potential sanctions match investigation, dispositioning, escalation, and other associated activities in the context of automatically and/or manually screened securities transactions, securities static data, and/or associated client static data.

Being the first line of defense, SSSO ensures that Citi securities services business lines remain compliant with the global sanctions regulations by executing controls implemented by the Firm.

We are looking for an experienced people manager with a background in operations to take the helm of our EMEA outfit of 10 employees in Warsaw.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a timely and accurate delivery by the team of the Level 2 investigation process, workload management; regularly evaluating the effectiveness of that delivery (e.g., KPIs);
  • Ensuring strict adherence of the staff to process controls, evaluation of the effectiveness of these controls and their compliance with the Global Sanctions Policy;
  • People management – retaining appropriate resource base to deliver the process, nurturing talent and creating development opportunities for the staff;
  • Acting as first level point of escalation for internal stakeholders (service recipients worldwide, client service, account and relationship managers, senior management);
  • Close cooperation with Sanctions Compliance (third line of defense);
  • Driving key technological enhancement initiatives targeting process efficiency.

Desired skills:

  • University degree (BA, or above) and min. 5 years of professional experience in the operational environment within the banking/financial industry;
  • Min. 2 years of experience in managing operations teams of >5 people;
  • Strong awareness of the global geopolitical situation and its major themes, understanding of sanctions risk and its implications;
  • Attention to detail and Investigative mindset (inherent curiosity, ability to spot patterns, research skills), diligence, discipline, and risk-averse approach;
  • Resilience to stress and pressure, ability to work in a fast-paced environment against multiple and conflicting deadlines, multitasking;
  • Strong command of English (C1) and MS Excel literacy (basic functions and pivot tables).
