Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accounting Lead within our Global Business Services (GBS). This role will be responsible for overseeing operations of a team within the Cost Accounting department, which encompasses inventory accounting, cost analysis, and measuring cost drivers. It involves supervising a cost accounting team, ensuring the adherence to designed processes and controls.

Accountabilities

·       Oversee the daily functions of a team of 5 – 20 within the Cost Accounting department

·       Support the establishment and maintenance of a stringent control environment that aligns with the company's internal control framework and global policy

·       Manage the accounting of assets in inventory, providing guidance on any adjustments necessary to accurately reflect actual inventory

·       Review cost analysis reports, including determining cost of goods sold (COGS) and estimating the variance from forecasted costs

·       Analyze cost drivers identified and work with internal stakeholders to report and mitigate them to lower costs

·       Set goals for the cost accounting team that are in line with the company's financial objectives

·       Develop, implement, and uphold systems, procedures, and policies within cost accounting to enhance accuracy and efficiency

·       Monitor and report on metrics, and propose strategies to meet KPIs and SLAs

·       Ensure timely and precise monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings related to cost accounting

·       Enforce compliance with regulatory standards and company policies

·       Train, mentor, and assess the performance of Cost Accounting resources

·       Assist with financial audits related to cost accounting

·       Work with various departments within Global Business Services to ensure smooth E2E operations

·       Foster and maintain strong relationships with team members and other internal stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

·       7+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting or financial management

·       2+ years in a management position

·       Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant designation

·       Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines

·       Experience managing a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

·       Strong leadership and communication skills

 

Preferred:

·       Master’s degree in a relevant field

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

·       Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

·       Familiarity with Oracle ERP Suite

·       Expert level understanding of cost accounting processes and best practices   

Languages

Fluency in English both spoken and written is required.
