Job Title: Specialist HVAC Engineer - Offshore Project
KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi.
Job Purpose
Provide specialist engineering expertise for the design, review, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and operation of HVAC systems for ADNOC Offshore facilities. Ensure all HVAC systems are designed and implemented in compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Lead and perform HVAC engineering activities for offshore platforms, wellhead towers, artificial islands, process facilities, utility facilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Develop and review HVAC system design basis, philosophies, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform HVAC load calculations using recognized engineering software.
- Design ventilation, air conditioning, pressurization, smoke extraction, and climate control systems.
- Review vendor documents, technical bids, and supplier drawings.
- Ensure HVAC systems meet hazardous area classifications and fire & gas requirements.
Project Execution
- Provide technical support throughout FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, and HSE disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops.
- Resolve technical queries and support site engineering activities.
- Review contractor submissions and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Prepare HVAC technical requisitions and material specifications.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations and recommend suitable vendors.
- Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, and manufacturing procedures.
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and inspection activities.
Construction & Commissioning Support
- Provide engineering support during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Witness HVAC performance testing and system validation.
- Ensure compliance with project quality plans and HSE requirements.
- Support startup and handover activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards, UAE regulations, and international codes.
- Promote HSE culture and ensure adherence to ADNOC Life-Saving Rules.
- Ensure HVAC systems support personnel safety, equipment protection, and operational reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical/HVAC Engineering is an advantage.
- Professional Engineer (PE), CEng, or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of HVAC engineering experience.
- At least 8 years in Oil & Gas, Offshore, Petrochemical, or Energy projects.
- Proven experience in ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, major IOC/NOC, or similar offshore projects.
- Experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and PMC projects.
- Prior offshore facility experience is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge
- HVAC system design for offshore oil & gas facilities.
- Pressurization systems for electrical and instrument rooms.
- Smoke management and fire-resistant HVAC design.
- Industrial ventilation and hazardous area facilities.
- Chilled water systems, DX systems, package units, AHUs, FCUs, and ventilation systems.
