Job Description:

Are you an experienced database developer ready to take on new challenges? We’re looking for a skilled professional to join our team, where you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing database components for a variety of internally developed applications. This role involves collaborating with front-end developers, evaluating system resources, and tuning database structures to improve application performance. You'll also play a key part in managing database migrations, coordinating with third-party vendors, and providing valuable input on technology decisions that shape the future direction of the department.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analysis, design, and implementation of the database components for a wide variety of internally developed applications.
  • Provide technical service in evaluating the design and coordinating the initiatives with front-end application developers to understand and tune use of the database structures.
  • Participate as a team member in evaluating system resource utilization and storage usage/capacity, and makes recommendations to improve application performance to meet business and financial requirements.
  • Responsible for the migration of databases between software versions and synchronizing  data between different databases residing in different platforms.
  • Provides input to the management on specific technology/platform changes to be used in setting new direction for the department.
  • Depending on the project’s scope some dealings with third party vendors may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • 5+  years of experience on database development, including MySql and Oracle. Experiencing in other databases an asset.
  • In depth knowledge of system analysis and design procedures in a database environment.
  • Solid knowledge in schema design principles with demonstrated aptitude to apply best practices for scalable designs and influence peer developers
  • In-depth understanding of data management and modelling (e.g. tables, views, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, permissions, performance monitoring, etc.)
  • In depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL query and performance tuning
  • Experience in design/development of data warehouse, including the ETL process.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Hands-on experience in Amazon RDS/Aurora. At least delivered two projects in AWS.
  • Full stack development experiences an asset.
  • Knowledge of Subversion, Git or other source code version control and repository tools.
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning skills
