Job Summary:

In a career as a Patient Safety Officer, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight of patient safety programs for the organization. Work collaboratively with Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) leadership to build effective programs for patient safety and error reduction.

Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday-Friday

Location: Downtown Clinic

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Assists with directing, developing, and implementing hospital wide safety programs, policies and procedures that support patient safety, quality and regulatory standards.
  • Assists with mock surveys/tracer activities/rounds to evaluate compliance with policies and procedures and identify and communicate areas for improvement.
  • Maintains expertise in current and proposed Joint Commission and CMS standards, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with the development of safety policies and procedures that guide, support, and ensure that clinical services are provided in accordance with standards established through Joint Commission standards and state and federal regulations.
  • Assists with the development of action plans and educational safety training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards/regulations.
  • Oversees the incident reporting system to monitor, trend and determine potential safety improvements.
  • Coordinates the emergency management committee and preparedness activities.
  • In collaboration with the emergency management committee and leadership, leads the workplace violence program.
  • Coordinates the environment of care and safety committees in collaboration with Facilities leadership and facilitates review of associated management plans and programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in nursing or healthcare related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality improvement and regulatory compliance in clinic and/or hospital settings required.
