The primary purpose of the position is to lead a team of non-supervisory employees with training and functionality associated with complex operating room equipment and instrumentation and to provide assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures. The Lead Surgical Technician participates with the surgical team members in planning and implementing complex procedures under the general supervision of the surgical teams. The Lead will assess and execute inventory management needs and report to ASC OR Manager with equipment purchasing over $500. The OR Lead position will also take an active role in infection control prevention and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Surgical Technologist
Positive and effective communication skills are essential.
Knowledge of approved procedures to be performed required.
Knowledge of infection control prevention and management preferred
MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires frequent and constant judgment and response; rarely in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Majority of day is spent maintaining OR schedules, sterile processing, and materials management. Require language skills adequate for high-level interpersonal and written communication in American English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to sit for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching, and ability to exert force up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, may encounter chemical and/or radiation hazards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND OBJECTIVES
Supports the philosophy, mission, employee code of conduct, goals, and objectives of the Central Ohio Urology Surgery Center.
Performs according to approved policies and procedures. Provides prompt, courteous, and excellent service to both internal and external customers at all times. Takes ownership of problems. Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process. Considers patient rights, privacy, safety, and confidentiality in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written or recorded instructions, reference materials and supplies. Gives on-the-job sterilization and infection training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Prepares, organizes, and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups. Assists the surgical team with care of the patient, i. e., positioning, prepping, and obtaining supplies, and transportation to and from the OR. Observes and responds promptly to each stage of the surgical procedure and anticipates the needs of the surgeon by maintaining a high level of concentration for extended periods of time. Provides prompt on-site troubleshooting of equipment and provides support to all procedures. Serves as the primary coordinator of OR/Surgical equipment and supplies, and its utilization within the peri-operative setting. Performs a variety of assignments within the department as assigned to include; scrub duties, sterile core duties, Turn Over Team (TOT), surgical assisting Materials Management
Develops par levels for supply needs and orders accordingly.
Maintains OR case schedule as pertains to ordering disposable supplies
Assures quality of supplies delivered from vendors
Ensures recall for supplies be checked frequently to ensure quality control
Performs other duties as assigned.
