This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

  

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success through skilled management of the development and administration of appropriate standards and tools for systems engineering disciplines including systems architecture, systems integration, trade studies, requirements development and decomposition, verification approaches, configuration management, gated reviews, systems safety, and technical performance metric management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead integrated functional teams to define, document, and execute integration and test activities for fluid subsystems (to include component level testing through final system acceptance and validation)

  • Manage requirements development, decomposition, trade studies, and requirement verification/validation

  • Develop strategies and approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) integration, analysis and verification 

  • Serve as primary subsystem engineering/technical POC for all systems engineering artifacts to include requirements specifications, ICDs, test plans, test procedures, and test reports

  • Coordinate transition of completed systems to operations/sustainment

  • Lead and present in technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc) and failure investigations

  • Define integrated test parameters, provide test execution support, and anomaly resolution

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or other technical field.

  • 5+ years of relevant Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering experience on complex systems.

  • Proven knowledge and application of systems engineering such as: creation of system architectures, requirement definition and decomposition, integration, V&V, qualification, commissioning and/or operations. 

  • Organized self-starter, capable of breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks and concisely communicating project status. 

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion .

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with collaboration and configuration management tools: Confluence, JIRA, Windchill. 

  • Experience with requirements development and Management Tools: DOORS, DNG, Jama

  • Prior experience in design, build or test of fluids and/or cryogenic systems. 

  • Ability to work with partially defined requirements and changing criteria

  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs

  • Demonstrated successful experience writing technical procedures, non-conformance documentation, and specifications.

  • Successful experience leading and managing teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet a top-level system requirement.

  • Strong safety record and attitude, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical tests and operations.
