Location: Adelphi, Maryland

The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with senior leadership to ensure projects related to UMGC Strategic Plan are properly scoped, meet key milestones, completed on-time and on-budget to deliver extraordinary business outcomes. The Senior Project Manager should demonstrate the ability to recommend effective solutions, prioritize and manage projects, develop creative solutions, and build relationships with leaders across the organization.

Note: This Senior Project Manager role is funded through a grant from The Gates Foundation. The grant lasts 4 years and funding for this role is tied to that grant. In addition, this role will be responsible for the execution and delivery of grant project initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align these projects with the university's DEI objectives and broader strategic goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Partners with executives from initial project conception and strategic planning sessions through successful execution and continuous improvement

  • Takes responsibility to track, report, and communicate the department’s performance and value, by helping to set appropriate levels of visibility and accountability across the organization

  • Serves as a change agent, supporting both the identification and application of new project management concepts and driving the spread of best practices organization-wide while resolving issues and breaking down barriers along the way

  • Creates a cohesive, high-performing team of senior program/project managers and senior business analysts who provide leadership that engages ePMO staff, including the clear establishment of performance expectations, coaching, performance management, career development, reward and recognition, and positive morale

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Conferred bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Five (5) or more years experience in project management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Experience building a consumer facing brand

  • Ability to lead and motivate others

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Proven ability to gain the support and cooperation of others

  • Ability to develop creative solutions to ensuring work is delivered as promised

  • Must be a self-starter, extremely organized and detail-oriented

PREFERED CERTIFICATION:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Tuition Remission:  CII employees are eligible immediately for Tuition Remission at UMGC or at University of Maryland College Park.  Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.

Hiring Range:

$140,000.00 - $155,000.00
