Day in the Life of a Lead Nurse

Clinical

  • Prepare all paperwork needing MD signature

  • Approve/deny all medical orders per MD

  • Schedule annual physicals

  • Conduct patient education (pregnancy, hepatitis, etc.)

  • Review lab work with patients

  • Assess for over sedation

  • Complete charts on patients

  • Schedule EKG’s/review MD’s recommendation regarding EKG results with patient

  • Perform bottle checks as needed

  • Perform as Lead Pharmacy Technician

  • Assist Pharmacist with filing medications weekly

  • Ensure compliance in pharmacy based on state and federal regulations


Supervisory

  • Schedule nursing/pharmacy staff

  • Order medical supplies

  • Prepare training and education for nursing staff

  • Conduct weekly nursing staff meeting

  • Audit dose changes

  • Attend team meetings

  • Count medication inventory

  • Monitor dosing area for accuracy and efficiency

  • Review all inventory binders to ensure proper documentation of inventory

  • Review 222 binder for pharmacist signature

  • Ensure nursing staff license is current

  • Reconcile inventory reconciliations as needed

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Licensed Practical or Registered Nurse License issued in the state in which they will be practicing or a multi-state compact status license.

    • License should be in good standing, unencumbered, and active. If applicable, disciplinary actions documented on any license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • 3+ years of nursing experience is preferred.

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, experience drawing blood on collapsed veins is a plus.

  • Active and current CPR or BLS certification is preferred.

Hours and Schedule

  • Monday-Friday; 4:30am–12:30pm

  • Rotating Saturday; 6:00am-9:00pm
