Director Supply Chain Policy


 

What you will be doing:

Premier seeks a driven, team-oriented self-starter for the position of Director of Supply Chain Policy in our Washington, DC office. The Director of Supply Chain Policy is responsible for leading the development of Premier’s policy strategy and positioning on supply chain resiliency, as well as other company priorities that will to lead to high quality, cost-effective healthcare across the healthcare spectrum.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and summarizing regulatory and legislative updates to federal healthcare programs that may include drug and device shortages, environmental sustainability, drug and device pricing, domestic manufacturing, disaster response, and pandemic preparedness.

  • Advising Premier senior management and staff, as well as Premier’s members, on the implications of regulatory and legislative updates via written and verbal communications.

  • Writing regulatory comment letters in alignment with Premier’s supply chain advocacy strategy.

  • Supporting member engagement on regulatory and legislative policy development.

  • Supporting member education by developing materials for webinars and in-person presentations.

  • Assisting with internal and external coalition-building to advance key advocacy priorities for Premier and our members.

In addition, the Director of Supply Chain Policy must have:

  • Proven organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Proven track record of successfully advocating for supply chain policy reform in the best interest of healthcare providers and patients.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Premier’s internal business units and members, external stakeholders, and with executive and legislative branch officials.

  • Understanding of the federal legislative process and attention to current congressional issues.

  • Familiarity with the federal regulatory process, comment periods, and federal agency organizational charts.

  • Exceptional and persuasive verbal and written skills, with the ability to perform with a high level of tact, integrity and professionalism while interacting with all levels of management, peers and internal/external stakeholders. 

  • Ability to draft written materials accurately and quickly under time pressure.

  • The ability to exercise independence and discretion.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 – 60%

  • Regulatory / Legislative Advisor

  • Track regulatory policies and legislation and advise internal teams and Premier members on implications of regulatory and legislative changes through various communication methods, such as written summaries and verbal presentations.

  • Educate Premier members and staff on impact of policies on providers’ ability to deliver quality and cost- effective care.

  • Develop comments (written and oral) through convening internal stakeholders and members and coordinating with other external stakeholders within required submission deadlines.

  • Contribute to externally facing presentations, correspondence, and reports.

Responsibility #2 – 40%

  • Policy Development / Strategic Visioning

  • Lead in identifying, researching, and developing policy positions, including coordinating regulatory and legislative analysis.

  • Support advocacy efforts (e.g., defining critical messages, developing briefing materials and serving as a subject matter expert).

  • Represent Premier and its policy positions on various trade association government affairs committees.

  •   Data analysis to support policy positions.

Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare advocacy, legislative and regulatory analysis, and political process

  • Understanding of the healthcare supply chain

  • Effective communicator able to work with all levels of corporate and government leaders

  • Area of study: Public Health, Public Policy, Political Science, Legislative Services, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline.

Education:

  • Graduate degree in healthcare or policy (such as MPP, MPH, MPA, or JD) or Healthcare professional (such as nurse, pharmacist, etc.

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space


 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US


 

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.


 

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $99,000 - $185,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
