The Tripadvisor SEO team is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate Director to build upon our best-in-class tools, and help deliver insights that unlock new growth opportunities for the SEO team. This role will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers, SEO PMs, and other cross functional business partners to build a roadmap that drives business growth. You will oversee the execution of the roadmap, and be responsible for adhoc analysis that helps the team deliver more traffic and revenue for the business. This role will take ownership over the development of our internal tools, and our use of external tools. You will guide a team of dedicated engineers, but we expect this to be a hands-on role, you will help guide the SEO product team using data to identify new opportunities, support SEO tests and perform post-launch analysis as needed. Ideal candidates will have strong SQL skills, and the ability to perform complex analysis. You will demonstrate fluency with complex data, highly effective communication skills, and a passion for travel.

 

Job Location: Remote. This role is a remote position in the United States. Occasional travel to company offices as necessary.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Collaboration: You’ll partner with other SEO team members and cross-functional partners to identify new opportunities in the search (and beyond), define product specifications for our tools, and assure quality and improve telemetry in our data.
  • Performance Minded: Support the development of quarterly and annual team plans, and oversee the tactical execution to achieve goals.
  • End-to-end ownership: Within weeks, you will be guiding the team, prioritizing projects, helping to analyze test results, and making decisions that have real effects on revenue and profit for the company.
  • Experimentation: We emphasize quantitative analysis and thorough, fast-paced experimentation and iteration. You will help improve the insights gathered through our testing framework, and partner with our data science team to improve rigor and confidence in our platform. 
  • SEO: You’re insight will help the team optimize our site to improve our reach in Google, Bing, and other search engines. You’ll track traffic patterns, SERP features, and research keywords users are searching for, and analyze data to determine how to make our pages rank higher.
  • Travel industry: You’ll get the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the travel industry (e.g., competitor analysis, top destinations by market, etc.). You’ll then leverage your findings to optimize our site to reflect market demand.

 

Skills & Experience 

  • Professional experience: 15+ years of SEO or search marketing experience at a consumer-facing internet company, you are considered an “expert” by your peers. 
  • Roadmap development: You’ve developed and built strategic roadmaps that align with business goals and user needs
  • Leadership: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, inspire team members to achieve their goals, and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Stakeholder management: You’ve demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders by understanding their needs, expectations, and perspectives, and providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Strong analytical & data skills: You enjoy working with data (comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets) and are eager to get better. You have very strong SQL skills. 
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills: You’re a strong verbal and written communicator, a great partner to engineers and other teams, and able to execute projects and analysis independently. 
  • Curiosity: You’re a creative problem solver with a deep curiosity about our business, Google algorithms, and how travelers search for information. 
  • Tech / web-savvy: You’re comfortable reading HTML/CSS, inspecting web pages, and maybe even writing a bit of Javascript.
  • Creativity: You think creatively and regularly experiment with new SEO concepts.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully handle ambiguity.
  • Striving to get better: We expect you to be smart, hard-working, detail-oriented, organized, and motivated. You should constantly be looking for ways to improve on your skills and look for ways to add value to the team.
  • AI: You’ve leveraged AI, and are familiar with writing prompts to develop content at scale
  • Academics: Degree in economics, finance, business, statistics, engineering, or math preferred.
  • Remote location available for US.

The salary range for this role is $185,000 to $225,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
