Lead Systems Engineer

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking motivated and self-starting Lead Systems Engineer for a position based in Huntington Beach, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead requirements management, development, analyses, decomposition, allocation, testing, validation, and verification, as well as systems architecture, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and CONOPS development

  • Lead and support requirements management including development, analysis, decomposition, allocation, testing, validation, and verification

  • Develop and maintain system architecture using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and CONOPS methodologies

  • Collaborate with subject matter and technology experts to integrate new technologies and improve system functionality performance and testability

  • Define functional architecture and modeling needs coordinating efforts across cross-functional teams to meet program milestones

  • Serve as the focal point for system level requirements including contractually flowed down and internally derived requirements

  • Interface with customers program management and leadership to ensure alignment of systems engineering integration and test activities

  • Lead troubleshooting and sustainment efforts for complex systems including ESGN-R system architecture and function

  • Manage and execute system integration and test programs ensuring traceability and verification of performance and design requirements

  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes across engineering disciplines

  • Facilitate technical communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams

  • Participate in all phases of systems engineering from design through qualification to production ensuring best practices are followed

  • Mentor junior systems engineers to develop cross-functional skills in systems engineering integration and test

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on system architecting, requirements development, and interface management

  • Proficiency in developing and managing complex system requirements and ensuring traceability

  • Experience with interface control documents (ICDs) and interface management processes

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, program management, and customers

  • Skilled in using systems engineering tools and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with model-based systems engineering MBSE tools such as Cameo MagicDraw or DOORS

  • Experience in GN&C and control systems design a plus

  • Prior experience working on large-scale complex aerospace or defense programs

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and integration with systems engineering processes

  • Certification in systems engineering e g INCOSE CSEP or ESEP

  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring junior engineers

  • Experience with risk management and mitigation strategies in system development

  • Ability to engage with customers and stakeholders to define and refine system requirements

  • Experience with Agile or other iterative development methodologies

Summary pay range for Lead (Level 5): $176,800.00 - $239,200.00
