Job Title

Benefits Manager

As a Benefits Manager, you will oversee the delivery and administration of US benefits and leave policies and programs. This role serves as the company’s subject matter expert on health, well-being, retirement, and leave programs, ensuring they are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with the overall workforce strategy. The Benefits Manager leads vendor management, regulatory compliance, benefits education, and continuous program optimization, while partnering closely across HR, Payroll, Legal, and other business stakeholders.

Responsibilities: 

Program Management -
•    Lead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of United States benefits and leave programs, including health and welfare, retirement, wellness, and leave of absence offerings.
•    Ensure programs are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with employee wellbeing, attraction, retention, and broader workforce strategy.
•    Partner with internal stakeholders and external consultants on benefits, leaves, and wellbeing programs, including overall planning, open enrollment, and ongoing program optimization.
•    Manage benefits vendor relationships, including leading vendor RFPs, renewals, negotiations, and ongoing service-level performance. Monitor program utilization, costs, and trends; provide reporting, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
•    Support development and management of the annual benefits budget.
•    Oversee and manage 401(k) plan administration, including enrollments, payroll contributions, compliance testing, audits, and issue resolution.
•    Develop and deliver employee-facing benefits communications and education; resolve complex inquiries and serve as an escalation point for advanced issues.
•    Provide training and guidance to HR and business stakeholders across the United States.
•    Lead wellbeing programs and engagement, including oversight of wellness initiatives and budget.
•    Oversee leave of absence programs across the United States, and serve as subject matter expert for People Services, Payroll, and third-party administrators.
•    Configure and manage benefits, open enrollment, and leave programs within the HRIS; troubleshoot system issues and partner with HRIS and IT teams for resolution.  
•    Maintain accurate program documentation, policies, and procedures, and remain current on industry and regulatory best practices.

Compliance & Reporting -
•    Ensure all benefit programs comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
•    Lead benefits compliance activities, including plan filings, audits, and preparation of required reporting (e.g., 1095s, 5500s, SARs).
•    Manage tax and state reporting requirements related to benefits programs (e.g., FAMLI, PCORI).
•    Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and partner with internal and external advisors to assess impact and implement necessary program updates.
•    Serve as point of contact for benefits benchmarking and report market insights to internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

Education

•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Experience

•    7+ years of progressive experience supporting health, leave, savings and investment, and well-being benefits administration within complex companies across the United States. 

Functional knowledge, skills, abilities

•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and levels.
•    In-depth knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements, including ACA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, IRS, and self-insured plan administration.
•    Proven experience leading annual open enrollment processes and managing vendor relationships.
•    Proficiency with HRIS systems (preferably Workday), AI solutions, and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
•    Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at various levels. 
•    Experience developing benefits communications, educational materials, dashboards, or reporting.
•    Ability to travel to plant locations for employee meetings or training as needed (minimal).

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 103,040.00 - USD 136,013.00
