Your New Role…
The  Manager, Media & Commercial Planning leads the strategic output of the Media Planning team, ensuring all multimedia media plans are insight-driven, commercially sound, and sales-ready. This role acts as the strategic backbone of the department—elevating planning quality, guiding the team with data and research, and partnering closely with Sales leadership to drive revenue growth.

In addition to people and process leadership, the Media Manager is responsible for providing market insights, audience research, and performance learnings that strengthen proposals, inform product development, and improve client outcomes.

Your Role Accountabilities…

Strategic Leadership & Planning Oversight

  • Oversee the development of integrated multimedia media strategies across Digital, CTV/Streaming, Paid TV, Social, and Audience Extension.
  • Ensure clarity of media strategy, role of channel, KPIs, and investment rationale across all plans.
  • Review and approve high-value or complex proposals prior to client delivery.
  • Act as senior strategic support in key client or agency conversations when needed.

Insights, Research & Strategic Intelligence

  • Lead the use of audience, market, and performance insights to strengthen media recommendations.
  • Translate research into clear, actionable narratives for Sales and Planning teams.
  • Partner with BI, Research, and Data teams to:
  • Analyze campaign performance and extract key learnings
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and optimization areas
  • Build repeatable insight frameworks for planning
  • Ensure insights are consistently embedded into proposals, post-buys, and sales materials.

Sales Partnership & Commercial Enablement

  • Serve as a strategic partner to Sales leadership, supporting:
  • Pitch strategy and proposal direction
  • Packaging and pricing logic
  • Revenue optimization opportunities
  • Help Sales teams articulate the value story behind media solutions, not just the inventory.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and scale winning planning approaches.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop Senior and Junior Media Planners.
  • Set planning standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks.
  • Support team workload prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, and continuous learning.

Process, Tools & Product Evolution

  • Own and improve planning workflows, templates, and documentation.
  • Ensure alignment between Planning, Sales, Ad Operations, and BI.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of media products, packages, and go-to-market strategies.

Drive consistency and clarity across all planning output.

Qualifications & Experience…

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in media planning, strategy, or commercial planning, preferably in an ad sales or agency environment.
  • Proven experience leading multimedia and digital-first media strategies.
  • Strong understanding of digital, CTV/Streaming, programmatic, and audience-based planning.
  • Experience managing or mentoring planning teams.
  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn data into insights.
  • Advanced Excel and comfort working with large datasets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working closely with Sales leadership or revenue teams.
  • Familiarity with audience measurement tools, research platforms, and BI dashboards.
  • Experience in regional or multi-market environments (LATAM experience a plus).
  • Background in media product development or packaging.

Key Competencies

  • Strategic leadership and commercial acumen
  • Strong insight-driven mindset
  • Clear, confident communicator
  • People development and coaching
  • Structured, scalable thinking

How We Get Things Done…

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done.
