Job Summary:

Summit Air is hiring for a full-time permanent Ground Service Equipment (GSE) / Facilities MaintenanceMechanic to join the team, in your new position you will reporting to the Maintenance Production Supervisor. You would be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of industrial aircraft ground service equipment and within the facility/ hangar.

This position interprets work orders and technical manuals; keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained; diagnoses faults or malfunctions and makes necessary repairs in a timely manner.

The GSE Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for supervising the work of the Industrial Mechanic Apprentice.

In this role you will collaborate closely with various department to create effective maintenance plans while adhering to regulatory compliance and operational requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Proactively maintains, repairs and overhauls aircraft ground service equipment in a safe, efficient manner. 
  • Performs troubleshooting of aircraft ground support equipment on a scheduled basis and performs immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment.
  • Maintains tools and support equipment in safe and operational working conditions while maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Manages & makes repairs to facilities in a safe and efficient manner.  Conducts regular inspections of facilities for compliance and asset integrity and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Develops and supervises the Industrial Mechanic Apprentice throughout the apprenticeship phase. 
  • Manages the Equipment status report along with updating equipment service intervals to ensure all equipment is maintained as required.
  • Manages and liaises with vendors and secure favorable pricing of parts and services; initiates purchase orders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years as an Industrial Mechanic or heavy-duty mechanic
  • Experience in aviation ground support equipment maintenance considered an asset
  • Must possess a Heavy Duty Mechanic /industrial mechanic/ Journeymen certification or equivalent preferred
  • Fabrication experience
  • Expert in the use of maintenance and work order practices
  • Strong and diverse mechanical knowledge
  • Capable of coordinating maintenance efforts both alone and in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer background including experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
