The Legal & Compliance Organization is looking for a mid-level Data Analyst to join a multi-disciplinary group that works collaboratively with the Global Trade, Ethics & Compliance, Litigation, Privacy, Business Unit, and Corporate Services teams to conduct a wide range of business intelligence, visualization, and investigation support functions.  

This team is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining regular, ad-hoc and automated reports, dashboards, presentations, and analysis to provide insights into the company’s overall risk profile and compliance based upon data unique to the Legal Department.

This position requires strong visualization & design skills, analytic capabilities, technical prowess, communication skills, and creativity. 

Major Areas of Responsibility

Responsibilities for this position include data visualization, wrangling, exploration, and analysis.  This position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining group presentations and dashboards supporting the different teams and strategic initiatives across our compliance and risk pillars.  IT experience will be required to access and support disparate IT systems and assist legal personnel on a variety of technical issues.

This role requires the ability to gather reporting requirements, manage stakeholders, design & develop visuals, and analyze diverse data sources.  The resulting analytics and visualizations will be used by executive-level decision makers to gain actionable insights.  Success in this role requires an interest and ability to collaborate with and take direction from colleagues and stakeholders with varying degrees of technical literacy. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain metrics, presentations, reports, analyses, and dashboards that will be used to drive key business decisions and ensure compliance.
  • Elicit reporting and analysis requirements from the Compliance Legal Team to deliver solutions.
  • Create storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps to illustrate design concepts.
  • Develop visualizations to explain risks and showcase key data insights for stakeholders.
  • Build data analytics algorithms and dashboards to identify events and users that may be indicative of policy non-compliance, trade issues, fraud, privacy, or IP risk.
  • Explore data to identify statistical relationships, trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Organize and transform data into comprehensible, usable, and actionable information.
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality of data sources and derived information.
  • Develop and design presentations—primarily in PowerPoint—that advance key business objectives, convey trade status & concerns, and highlight key risk areas by telling the story through clean, concise, and well-organized slides.
  • Distill clear messaging from the data and utilize smart visuals to effectively deliver insights to C-Suite executives allowing them to make informed business decisions for Applied’s compliance and risk profiles.
  • Develop and maintain customized templates and graphics to project a professional, consistent “look and feel” for the department.
  • Create frontend Applications using Sharepoint/Angular/React
  • Incorporate user feedback into layout changes and follow font, color, and image style guidelines.
  • Understand and augment existing systems and the application architecture.
  • Write secure, reliable, testable, readable code.
  • Maintain and support existing products and services.
  • Educate and train the users on the supported sites, dashboards, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Sociology, Business Intelligence, or Computer Science, or similar field from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience with the following native services is preferred: C#.net, ASP.NET, Angular JS, Vue JS, jQuery Ajax, JSON & WEB APIs
  • Excellent data visualization skills and advanced PowerPoint presentation development skills
  • Must have strong User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design skills.
  • Proficient in SQL Query Development, Relational Database Design
  • Experience with Tableau and Tableau Prep
  • Understand and apply XML / JSON concepts
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Professional experience with React & Redux or similar front-end technologies or frameworks (Angular, Vue, etc...)
  • Hands-on experience testing, debugging and troubleshooting REST APIs implemented using Python
  • Strong attention to detail, passion for data accuracy, and high personal integrity
  • Excellent communication skills:
    • Clearly articulate and visually present complex data relationships and analysis results.
    • Create concise diagrams, charts, and reports to communicate the findings to the target audience.
    • Implement and document workflows & processes.
    • Effectively translate between development and business users.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global team.
  • Capable of gaining the trust of legal and business stakeholders to achieve the desired objective.
  • Past work with a compliance or audit organization is a huge plus.
  • Experience using version control systems, e.g. Git.
  • Flexible with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and a positive attitude.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SQL, Hadoop, Hue, Data Bricks or SAP ERP
  • Working knowledge of Open-Source data analysis tools
  • Project management experience

U.S. Salary Range:

$164,000.00 - $225,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
