What success looks like in this role:

The Senior Wintel Engineer role at Unisys Australia focuses on managing and securing enterprise-scale Windows infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting critical services for banking and financial clients. The position requires deep expertise in Windows platforms, virtualization, security, and ITIL-based service delivery.

• Lead and execute large-scale migration projects, transitioning workloads and virtual machines (VMs) from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Assess existing VMware infrastructure, create migration plans, and identify potential risks during the migration process.
• Develop and maintain migration scripts, tools, and best practices to streamline the transition process.
• Ensure smooth application and data migration with minimal downtime, while adhering to SLAs and operational efficiency.
• Provide expert-level knowledge and hands-on support for VMware and Hyper-V virtualization technologies, ensuring seamless integration between systems.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to virtualized environments and provide advanced troubleshooting solutions.
• Design, implement, and optimize virtualization infrastructure to support business objectives.
• Serve as the go-to resource for VMware and Hyper-V questions, providing guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in VMware and Hyper-V technologies, offering recommendations for new solutions, tools, or upgrades.
• Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.
• Discussing system and server upgrades with IT managers.
• Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers.
• Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.
• Troubleshooting system and server errors.
• Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors.
• Monitoring and updating the Windows codebase.
• Managing user access.
• Monitoring system performance.
• Maintaining server architecture security

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Proven work experience as a Windows Administrator is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ability to create scripts in Power shell
• Experience with databases, patch management, and networks including LAN and WAN.
• Familiarity with modern operating systems and server platforms.
• Knowledge of network security systems, intrusion detection systems, and data backup.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in VMware
• Experience in management in System Center Virtual machine manager
• Experience in management of Failover clusters
• Experience in Hyper converged Nutanix platform
