Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

Location: Madrid

Employment Type: Permanent, full time

The job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our growing Data Science and AI team at AVEVA. In this role, you will lead complex data science projects, develop advanced machine learning models, and provide strategic insights to enable data-driven business decisions. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to turn data into actionable intelligence. Our team is focused on supporting the organization with insights, analysis for decision-making processes and internal process automation. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all stages of data science projects, including problem definition, data exploration, model deployment, and performance monitoring. 
  • Co-design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and statistical algorithms to solve real-world business problems. 
  • Create, deploy, and maintain AI agents, including task-specific agents, autonomous workflows, and multi-agent systems. 
  • Define and apply best practices for AI agent development, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and safety protocols. 
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of deployed AI agents to ensure reliability, scalability, and alignment with business objectives. 
  • Adhere to and promote to best practices and standards for data science process (including documentation) and code developments. 
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure robust data pipelines and scalable model deployment. 
  • Stay current with the latest research and trends in data science, machine learning, and AI.  

Essential Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in data science or machine learning roles. 
  • Proficiency in Python, and experience with libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar. 
  • Experience working with database systems (such as SQL, NoSQL). 
  • Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). 
  • Solid understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques. 
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying Machine Learning (ML) models and/or AI agents to production with measurable business impact. 
  • Knowledge of git/version control systems. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 

Preferred: 

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. 
  • SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data systems (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery). 
  • Familiarity with Azure infrastructure, particularly Azure ML Studio and Azure Databricks. 
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices. 
  • Experience with search engines, classification algorithms or recommendation systems is a plus.
