Manufacturing Engineer - Rotational Program

Position Overview

We are looking for Manufacturing Process Engineers (MPE) to join Hypertherm! We operate and maintain a diverse number of machine and assembly platforms supporting a variety of products and materials across a three-shift operation.  In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the manufacture of high-quality products and efficient processes, including multi-axis CNC machines, manual and automated pressing/assembly equipment, as well as laser marking and packaging equipment. You will also lead process improvement projects and initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma practices to enhance quality, reduce cost, improve safety, and increase earnings for our 100% Associate-owned organization.  Depending on business need, there may be an opportunity to work with 2-4 different teams in six-month rotations to gain an enterprise perspective of our processes and meet many associates across Hypertherm.
ho you are and the experience you bring: 

  • Define the work methods for a specific production area consisting of several work cells. Identify process improvements and lead projects to improve product flow through work cells.
  • Ensure safety procedures (lockout, job safety analysis, personal protective equipment, machine guarding, and ergonomics) are developed and integrated into production processes.
  • Provide daily support to production teams for technical issues that arise. Provide training and support in programming, operation, and maintenance of all equipment in the work area.
  • Ensure production area processes operate within quality and production metric targets. Identify trends in quality performance, execute root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and workstations essential to the production cells.
  • Participate in the investigation and purchase of new equipment and tooling. Provide input into the equipment/process technology road map.
  • Create and maintain all documents used to control the manufacturing process including Engineering Change Orders (ECO), routing, Visual Factory, bills of material, standard work, value stream maps and quality data collection sheets.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS degree in engineering (IE/ME/MET or equivelant) required
  • 1+ internship or coop rotation in a manufacturing/engineering setting
  • Solidworks or CAD experience
  • Strong critical analysis skills and the ability to get to the root cause of problems

Preferred experience that differentiates you: 

  • Lean, kaizen events, and six sigma concepts
  • Programming and configuring digital manufacturing solutions such as ERP and MES
  • Statistical analysis experience

This is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.

Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
