Overview:

The associate will examine mortgage packages for completeness, and ensure proper execution in accordance with state and local recording requirements. They are responsible for coordinating the submission of documents to recording offices, tracking the recording process, and resolving any issues or rejections to ensure timely and accurate perfection of liens. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of commercial lending documentation, and the ability to interpret jurisdictional recording requirements. The team works closely with internal departments, legal teams, and external recording offices to facilitate the successful recording of mortgage documents and maintain accurate records.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, prepare, and perfect internally prepared commercial mortgage documents to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to recording.            
  • Verify completeness of mortgage packages, including borrower information, property details, and execution requirements.
  • Ensure all documents meet applicable legal, regulatory, and jurisdictional recording standards.
  • Coordinate the submission of mortgage documents to the appropriate county or local recording offices.
  • Monitor and track the recording process to confirm timely and accurate lien perfection
  • Identify, research, and resolve rejected or deficient recordings to ensure proper filing.
  • Work closely with internal departments, legal teams, and business partners to address documentation issues and ensure readiness for recording.
  • Collaborate with external partners to facilitate document recording and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for all submitted and recorded documents.
  • Support the protection of the institution's collateral position through diligent document handling and quality control.                                                                   
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ work experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ work experience

Detail-oriented

Experience in wealth management or commercial lending operations

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum of 4 years’ relevant work experience

Knowledge of pertinent Bank operating systems

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $22.61 - $37.67 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
