Nurse Practitioner – OB/GYN


Job Summary
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) provides primary healthcare services to patients across the lifespan, from newborns to elderly individuals. FNPs work collaboratively with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care. They assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic illnesses, emphasizing preventative care and health promotion.

Reports to: Manager, Physician Practice

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

Conduct patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.

Assist in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses.

Prescribe medications and treatments under physician supervision.

Provide patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to coordinate patient care.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Adhere to ethical and legal standards in patient care.


Education and Experience

Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Active FNP license in the State of Texas.

Prior experience in primary care preferred.


Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

Valid FNP license in Texas.

BLS certification


Skills and Abilities

Clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

Knowledge of evidence-based medicine.

Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health records.


Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
The person in this role will have daily interactions with physicians, nursing staff, and support staff. Serve as a primary care provider within the healthcare team.


Physical Capabilities

Ability to move around the clinic, including walking between patient rooms and administrative areas. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and medical equipment. Occasional lifting or assisting patients with mobility.


Environmental/Working Conditions
Works in a well-lit, heated, and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is of high risk.
