This is a hybrid role, with two days/week spent working in our Ashburn Corporate office.
Reporting to the New Homes Controller, you will assist in overseeing our New Homes Accounting team. You will help streamline our operational processes and financial reporting processes. You will support the Controller in ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting as well as the growth and development of the team to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.
Objectives of this role:
- Ensure day-to-day accounting transactions are being processed timely and accurately
- Oversee financial statement preparation, reconciliations, financial transactions for draws, cash management, etc.
- Support all aspects of month-end close and financial reporting
- Facilitate the consolidation of hundreds of entities financial statements
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
- Maximize efficiency through innovative process development across all areas of the department
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
- Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
- Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions
- Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
Responsibilities:
- Administer accounting and finance including enforcing operating policies and procedures
- Maintain internal controls for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- Support Controller’s direction for financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
- Monitor and balance cash flows into and out of various entities to meet business obligations and manage owner’s equity
- Facilitate debt management, ensuring draws are submitted timely to banks to maintain company’s cash position and policies
- Preparing external financial statements and reporting for investors
- Develop, oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in managing individual contributors, with focus on streamlining accounting processes
- Exemplary history of financial project management
- Advanced excel skills
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is imperative
- Exhibit solid judgement; take initiative
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Public accounting, homebuilding, manufacturing, or real estate experience highly preferred
- Minimum 7+ years accounting experience required; cost accounting experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA preferred
- Detail and customer service oriented
- A self-starter and team player with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 annually + bonus (Pay is commensurate with experience, education, training, and skills)
