Leidos’ Defense Systems Global Supply Chain Organization is seeking a Director, Supply Chain to join our Defense Systems Sector (DSS) located in Huntsville, AL location. Occasional travel will be required for in-person engagements with internal customers and suppliers across multiple Leidos sites. This role will report directly to the Defense Systems Vice President, Global Supply Chain and will be an integrated member of the supply chain organization. The Director, (DSS) Global Supply Chain will be responsible for full life cycle (“cradle to grave”) subcontract management and materials management within the operations. This role will manage and lead a diverse team of supply chain leaders & professionals and requires deep management and leadership knowledge cross multiple business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Subcontract Lifecycle Management:

  • Lead full lifecycle subcontract management for complex integrated hardware and services, including proposal support, subcontractor solicitation, price analysis, negotiations, award, administration, and closeout activities.
  • Develop strategies for subcontract competitions and negotiations, managing subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure optimal results.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, company policies, and acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) through ongoing audits and oversight.
  • Own the subcontracting function for new business capture and proposal efforts, including working with cross-functional teams to align outcomes with program goals.

Cross-functional Collaboration & GSC Partnership:

  • Partner with GSC functions (material purchasing, planning, cost estimating, and supplier alliances) to align subcontracting efforts and achieve mission success.
  • Work closely with cross-functional leaders (e.g., contracts, project control, finance) to ensure subcontracting activities meet prime contract requirements, financial goals, and operational objectives.
  • Lead efforts to resolve supply chain issues and mitigate risks that may impact subcontractor performance or program delivery.

Supplier & Risk Management:

  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and performance, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services per contractual obligations.
  • Address and resolve supplier performance issues, collaborating with operations leadership to ensure quality standards and delivery schedules are met.
  • Identify and mitigate complex subcontract risks, including cost overruns, delivery delays, and regulatory non-compliance.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Subcontracts Managers and Specialists, setting clear expectations, ensuring high-quality execution, and holding the team accountable for deliverables.
  • Provide training and development opportunities, conducting performance reviews and supporting career growth to ensure high-performing staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and collaboration within the subcontracts team, ensuring seamless cross-functional teamwork.
  • Regular collaboration with Business Area and Senior Leadership to align supply chain strategies with organizational objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain US DoD Security clearance.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years or prior relevant experience. Generally, has 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Strong background in subcontract management for hardware, complex integrated systems and services, including negotiation, administration, and performance management.
  • Expertise in driving hardware supply chain efficiencies in manufacturing environments, reducing costs, mitigating risks and ensuring production timelines are met.
  • Expertise in federal subcontracting practices, including FAR, DFAR, and ITAR, with demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Experience supporting Contractor Purchasing System Reviews (CPSRs).
  • Solid understanding of subcontract lifecycle from proposal to closeout and the ability to resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CostPoint Deltek.
  • Experience managing subcontracts requirements and reporting for small business, international and supporting global programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPC, CFCM, ISM, APICS, PMI PMP, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to engage senior leaders and resolve issues effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing teams to high performance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a "can-do" attitude, with the ability to drive creative solutions to business challenges.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $124,800.00 - $225,600.00
