Position Summary

The Commercial Director will be responsible for overseeing the sales department, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the sales team achieves its targets in alignment with the company’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP). This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, market analysis, and competitive intelligence. The Commercial Director will also work closely with senior leadership to influence key business decisions and optimize the overall sales strategy to achieve long-term success.

Essential Functions

Sales Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team, ensuring they are motivated and equipped to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Foster a high-performance sales culture, providing guidance on best practices, performance management, and skills development.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing coaching and feedback to optimize sales efforts.

Revenue Growth Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the sales strategy to drive revenue growth, identifying new business opportunities and optimizing current customer relationships.
  • Set clear objectives and sales targets in line with the company’s AOP and track progress regularly.
  • Ensure alignment between the sales team’s efforts and broader organizational goals.

Sales Forecasting & Planning:

  • Lead the sales forecasting process, ensuring accurate projections of revenue and identifying potential gaps.
  • Collaborate with finance, marketing, and other departments to ensure realistic and achievable sales forecasts.
  • Track performance against forecast, making adjustments and strategic recommendations as necessary.

Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities.
  • Monitor and analyze competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, pricing strategies, and market positioning.
  • Leverage market intelligence to adjust sales strategies and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Annual Operating Plan (AOP) Alignment:

  • Ensure that the sales team’s activities and objectives are in line with the company’s AOP, adjusting tactics as needed to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Work with senior leadership to update the AOP and communicate progress towards targets.
  • Report on sales performance to senior management, including variances to AOP and corrective actions.

Customer & Channel Partner Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers and prospects, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
  • Identify and address customer needs, working cross-functionally to improve product offerings and service delivery.
  • Work with Channel partners to improve our reach in the market.  Ensure effectiveness of coverage & get market updates from them.
  • Regular evaluation & feedback through Sales team.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to align strategies and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Support the creation of sales collateral, product training, and marketing campaigns that align with the sales strategy.
  • Ensure smooth communication across departments to drive operational efficiency.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Director or in a senior sales leadership role.
  • Strong track record in sales management, revenue generation, and team leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of sales strategies, forecasting, and performance tracking.
  • Familiarity with market intelligence tools and competitive analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
  • 10+ years of Experience in related field
  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools.
