Job Description Summary

Team Leaders are responsible for overseeing and providing tools necessary for their crews to work safely, stay quality focused and production oriented. The Team Leader interacts with the supervisors, and team members as necessary. The Team leaders will be involved with and assess requirements, developmental plans, provide needed materials and direction for the purpose of their employee’s success of meeting or exceeding our internal and external customer expectations.

Job Description

  • Coordinates and provide directions to assigned manufacturing associates on how to do their assigned task(s). This includes hands on training
  • Ensure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shift.
  • Assign Manufacturing Associates to the appropriate operation
  • Ensure that the manufacturing associates are following the appropriate conduct codes per AAM Plant’s Associate Handbook
  • Frequently review the Quality of products following each process and provide feedback to Manufacturing Specialists to keep everyone in tune with the process
  • Develop employees for further company growth
  • Verify that we meet machine efficiencies, quality standards, and reduce scrap levels in assigned area
  • Monitor, direct, and maintain workflow through assigned area in coordination with Crew Manager and Shipping department to meet quality production and shipping goals
  • Develop, suggest changes in the process to improve quality or maximize labor efficiency to meet goals of the company
  • Maintain identity and segregation of nonconforming material and communicate to Crew Manager for guidance
  • Verify that documented procedures and instructions are being followed:
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Rework Instructions
  • Work Instructions
  • Preventive Maintenance Instructions
  • Inspection Instructions
  • Reaction Plans
  • Process Set-up Instructions
  • Associate Handbook
  • Police Housekeeping/assist if needed
  • Police End of Shift Clean-up
  • Facilitate communications between operations within the assigned Module, between crews, and between Modules and other Team Leaders
  • Hold Kickoff meetings in absence of CM
  • Coordinate changeovers/setups at required operations per Crew Supervisors guidance; plans changes for minimum disruption
  • Complete Team Leader Report and verify the following for accuracy:
  •  Operation Productivity & Scrap sheets
  • Feedback on process, operation and downtime
  •  Maintain and report status of supplies at the operation line and inventory levels
  •  Perform in a production capacity when needed
  •  Assist in material handling tasks to maintain neat and orderly work area
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the team leader is responsible for other tasks as assigned
  • Monitor Communications Boards accordingly
  • Back-up CM assumes Crew Manager responsibilities in the absence of CM
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assigned

Required Skills and Education

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Associate Degree in Applied Science in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing preferred)

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum of 1-year experience in manufacturing operations (2 years’ experience preferred)
  • A working knowledge of compact, forge, delube, deflash, double disk grind, shot peen, whitelight inspection, video ink jet, magnetic particle inspection and dip tank operation is required
  • On the machine side, understanding and knowledge of the various machinery
