Your New Role…

The Accountant is a key position in the accounting team supporting expense accounting for Direct-to-Consumer activity for various businesses within EMEA territories for Warner Bros. Discovery. This person will be responsible for performing accounting activities related to expenses, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Ensure that financial records related to expenses are complete, accurate and in compliance with US GAAP and company policies. Including but not limited to accounting for operational expenses including personnel, G&A and Tech Ops, marketing, sales and research expenses

  • Ensure timely booking of expenses including the related accruals and prepaids.

  • Prepare account reconciliations in a timely manner and ensure accuracy and completeness for expense related accounts

  • Participate in the month-end close process for expense related accounts including the preparation and review of journal entries and other financial reports

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, HR to ensure the timely and accurate recognition of expenses

  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal control environment

  • Engage with key DTC EMEA controllership stakeholders, including FP&A, Tax, GBS,  and country specific business unit teams. Ensure understanding of the streaming business in core operating sectors and provide responsive consultation and information as required in key business decisions.  Periodically evaluate personnel workload requirements within the team and recommend changes, process improvements as require. Lead team with emphasis on continuous improvement in accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • At least 3+ years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX requirements as required

  • BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university

  • Master’s degree in accounting a plus

  • CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred

  • Experience performing financial accounting monitoring of key business performance metrics

  • Strong understanding of financial systems with ability to learn and master new system tools

  • Experience in automating manual processes

  • Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure

  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels

  • Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving processes by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges

  • Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift

  • Willing and able to travel internationally for occasional business trips
