Summary of Job Duties:

The Cook prepares meals and snacks according to recipes and menus planned by the Nutrition/Health Resource Specialist.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED PLUS one (1) year of experience in institutional or commercial cooking.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Supervisory experience desirable.
  • Obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by State regulations.
  • Previous experience working with the children
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with children
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, staff, vendors and the general public.
  • Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks


Additional Information:

Responsibilities

  • Prepares meals and snacks for children and staff. 
  • Maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness in kitchen and storage areas.
  • Obtain 15 hours of continued job related education/training by attending workshops, continuing educational courses and meetings.
  • Assists with mealtime in classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.
