Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service identifying and solving issues within multiple components of critical business systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of applications and providing support to end-users. Your typical day will involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the improvement of application performance and stability. Roles & Responsibilities: 1. VMware vSphere Management: o Design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere private cloud infrastructure (ESXi, vCenter). o Configure and optimize vSphere clusters, resource pools, and advanced features such as vMotion, DRS, HA, FT, and VMware Update Manager (VUM). o Provide advanced troubleshooting and optimization of private cloud environments to ensure reliability and performance. 2. vRealize Automation (vRA): o Deploy and manage vRealize Automation (vRA) to automate VM provisioning and cloud services in the private cloud. o Create vRA Blueprints for automated provisioning and lifecycle management of infrastructure and applications. o Integrate vRA with vRO for end-to-end automation workflows, enabling Infrastructure as Code (IaC). 3. Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) – Nutanix and VxRail: o Manage the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of Nutanix and Dell EMC VxRail HCI platforms. o Optimize and troubleshoot HCI clusters, ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance for the private cloud workloads. 4. VMware vSAN: o Design, deploy, and manage vSAN storage solutions to optimize storage performance and scalability. o Monitor vSAN health, storage policies, and data replication for optimal performance and fault tolerance in the private cloud. 5. vRealize Orchestrator (vRO): o Develop and maintain vRO workflows to automate routine cloud operations, orchestrate infrastructure tasks, and integrate third-party systems. o Enhance cloud automation by integrating vRO with various cloud management and monitoring tools. 6. vRealize Operations (vROps): o Manage and configure vROps for continuous monitoring and performance optimization of the private cloud infrastructure. o Utilize vROps dashboards to monitor capacity, detect anomalies, and ensure proactive resource management across the cloud environment. 7. Private Cloud Security and Compliance: o Implement security hardening best practices for VMware and HCI environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards. o Apply role-based access control (RBAC) and secure the private cloud environment through governance policies and proactive monitoring. 8. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: o Develop disaster recovery strategies using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or vSphere Replication to ensure the continuity of critical cloud services. o Regularly test and document DR plans to ensure readiness in the event of a disaster. 9. Level 3 Escalation Support: o Serve as the Level 3 escalation point for complex cloud-related issues involving VMware vSphere, HCI platforms, vSAN, vRA, vRO, and vROps. o Perform root cause analysis and resolution for major incidents in private cloud environments. 10. Automation and Scripting: o Automate cloud operations and routine tasks using PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible for increased efficiency and consistency in private cloud management. o Leverage automation for VM provisioning, resource allocation, and performance tuning in a scalable private cloud environment. 11. Documentation and Collaboration: o Maintain comprehensive documentation of private cloud architecture, procedures, and runbooks for operational efficiency. o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, security, and application teams, to optimize and integrate private cloud solutions. Professional & Technical Skills: • Required Technical Skills: o Strong expertise in VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) in large-scale private cloud environments. o Hands-on experience with vRealize Automation (vRA) and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) for automating cloud services. o Advanced knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions like Nutanix Acropolis and Dell EMC VxRail. o Proficiency in managing VMware vSAN for software-defined storage in a private cloud environment. o Expertise in vRealize Operations Manager (vROps) for monitoring and optimizing cloud infrastructure. • Preferred Skills: o Familiarity with disaster recovery tools like VMware SRM and vSphere Replication. o Experience with scripting and automation using PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible. o Knowledge of VMware NSX for network virtualization and security in private clouds. • Experience Level: o 2+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and private cloud management. o 1+ years of experience managing vRealize Suite (vRA, vRO, vROps) in cloud environments. o 1+ years of experience with HCI solutions (Nutanix, VxRail) and vSAN. Education and Certification: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Relevant certifications such as: o VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – Data Center Virtualization (DCV). o VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) is a plus. o Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or Dell EMC VxRail Certifications. Additional Information: • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document solutions and train other teams. • Should be able to work in 24/7 rota. • Should be Flexible to support during OOH. - This position is based at our Bengaluru office. - A 15 years full-time education is required.
