Job Description:

Position: Western Colorado University invites applications for the full-time position of Student Success Coordinator for Transition Initiatives.  The position reports to the Director of Student Retention and Completion, works closely with Student Success Coordinator for Scholarship Initiatives, and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing various transition programming. This job requires being on campus in person. 

Responsibilities: This position oversees transition programming in support of student retention, persistence, and completion. The coordinator oversees hiring, training, and supervision of EPIC Mentors, Peer Success Coaches, and student coordinators, ensuring they are prepared to support peers effectively. This position develops and implements training programs, plans outreach activities, and collaborates with campus departments to enhance student engagement and persistence. The role involves coordinating programming for admitted and enrolled students and designing initiatives to encourage student yield and retention. The coordinator also conducts program assessments, applies DEIJ+ best practices, manages budgets, and aligns mentoring initiatives with the Division of Student Affairs curricular model with a focus on student learning and development. Additionally, they provide support for scholarship program events and serve on scholarship selection committees. 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree  

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate Degree (e.g., M.A., Ed.D., Ph.D.) in psychology, sociology, social work, student affairs, higher education, ethnic studies, or cultural studies, have multi-lingual (e.g., Spanish), interpretation and translation abilities, and have student success programming experience. 

Compensation: $45,000 to $47,000 based on experience and is FLSA exempt. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
