Reporting to the Manager Finance & Planning - Sales & Marketing, the Advisor acts as a business consultant to leaders and stakeholders by providing decision support and recommendations on critical initiatives. The Advisor is also responsible for the design and development of F&P reporting and analytics, as well as defines and improves financial and operational metrics, KPIs and business definitions as a Retail / Wholesale business case and performance expert.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of financial experience, including business / economic and quantitative data analysis
  • Ability to resolve complex business reporting problems quickly and effectively, either individually or by leading a team, through strong understanding of integrated business process, broad system functionality, problem management and data
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to translate business assumptions and goals into inputs and metrics for business cases
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to work effectively in an advisory capacity, to influence management and internal stakeholders and peers
  • Strong communicator with proven problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement / curious mindset
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Computer Science or related field
  • Technical understanding of data & analytics capabilities and the supporting technologies, Power Bi, SQL, Azure, etc. is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Define and improve various financial and operational metrics, KPIs and business definitions
  • Lead and support complex business cases and for Retail projects and provide information and compelling advice to Senior management to facilitate strategic decisions regarding expenses and short- and long-term capital.
  • Active participant of various project teams and responsible for the development of F&P reporting and analytics while assess and quantify integrated risks and opportunities to the business and understand operation implications
  • Act as lead subject matter expert on financial modelling and assumptions within Retail Business Support & Insights
  • Act as the primary back-up for monthly Retail financial reporting and annual budget/business plan development
  • Handle ad hoc requests from various internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyze and advise on the financial outcomes of various strategic initiatives supporting the Sales and Marketing growth strategy

Location and other Key Details: 

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Collaborative team-based environment, supporting individual and corporate development
  • Work may involve extended periods of time at a computer as well as reviewing and preparing data
