School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences / Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies  is a research-intensive academic unit at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, focusing on frontier research in photonics, optical imaging, computational sensing and related interdisciplinary technologies.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to conduct research in advanced optical imaging, structured-light three-dimensional reconstruction, computational photonics and AI-assisted sensing. The role will focus on developing optical encoding methods, imaging-system calibration approaches, reconstruction algorithms and experimental validation platforms for high-precision, high-speed and robust three-dimensional sensing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on structured-light three-dimensional imaging, optical encoding, computational imaging and AI-assisted reconstruction

  • Design, build and calibrate optical imaging and three-dimensional sensing experimental systems

  • Develop algorithms for image processing, stereo matching, point-cloud reconstruction and quantitative performance evaluation

  • Perform simulations, experiments, data acquisition and statistical analysis

  • Prepare research manuscripts, technical reports, presentations and project deliverables

  • Support project management, collaboration, data organization and laboratory safety

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Research experience in optical imaging, structured-light three-dimensional reconstruction, computational imaging, computer vision, machine learning or experimental photonics

  • Hands-on experience in optical system setup, calibration, image acquisition and three-dimensional reconstruction

  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB and C++

  • Good analytical, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
