Job Description

Performs installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computers (PC) and related systems. Assists in determining suitable software to meet users’ requirements. Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to personal (desktop or laptop) computers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Team Members in resolving hardware and software issues by fielding telephone calls and email communication, diagnosing problems and performing troubleshooting activities.
  • Provides 1st  level troubleshooting: Performs a variety of installs and troubleshoots computer and Software issues.
  • Performs a variety of duties, including:
    • Installing and configuring basic workstation hardware and software,
    • Assisting with provision of first line user support,
    • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Installs, configures, repairs, and helps with updates to personal computers, laptops, and associated devices and software.
  • Provisions accounts for new users and de-provisions for departing Team Members.
  • Ensures equipment / system inventory is maintained as required.

Skills:

  • Solid foundation of computer networking and end- user experience both hardware and software. Tracking incidents and calls. 
  • Good technical understanding and an ability to translate technical details into easily understood concepts
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Basic hands-on experience with PC installation, service, and repair.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Windows hardware and software environments.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening.
  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects or activities.
  • Establishes working relationships with others outside one’s area of expertise.
  • Responds promptly and accurately to Team Members and members of the supported organizations.
  • May handle basic vendor communications.
  • Works on routine assignments using independent judgment to address and resolve anticipated / recurring issues.
  • Follows standard procedures; troubleshoots reported glitches and irregularities.
  • Receives guidance and direction on new or more complex issues.
  • Recognizes when standard processes and procedures require modification or adaptation.
  • Works effectively with Team Members and other stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates a customer-focused orientation and mindset.
  • Maintains confidential information.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma and 2-4 years’ relevant experience.
  • Associates degree, technical college or some college course work preferred.
  • 2+ yr. experience with MS (AD) Active Directory  Infrastructure.
  • A+ COMP TIA certification preferred.
