Maintain a strong Shariah Governance culture in line with BNM Shariah Governance Policy Document
• Support completion of all initiatives under the Strong Shariah Compliance Culture.
• Execute & ensure completion of the activities to increase the participation from HLB staff in Shariah.
• Ensure annual review of Shariah related policies (i.e., Board Policy on Shariah Governance, Board Policy on Shariah Contracts and Concepts, Management Policy Shariah Compliance and Shariah Department SOP) are done timely.
• Develop and review Shariah related training material i.e., E-Learning, Tips for Bank wide to ensure Shariah compliance culture within the Bank.
• Conduct Shariah related training to Bank’s staff to increase Shariah awareness and ensure compliance culture within the Bank.
• Ensure compliance with all rulings and standards issued by authorities i.e., BNM, SC
• Proactively engage with the industry players through authorities/association i.e., BNM, AIBIM to ensure the best practice of Shariah compliance culture within the Bank.
Product Development, Services & Fair Dealings
• Provide solutions/takyif fiqhi for Shariah proposals from Product Development which to be circulated/presented to HLISB Shariah Committee for approval.
• Provide Shariah direction on product roadmap and execution plan as well as the culture of fair dealings in all products & services.
• Efficiently facilitate the Shariah approvals and to be proactively involved in the engagement with regulators in relation to product submission.
• Undertake research on Shariah issues based on approved Shariah Research Plan and as, when necessary, i.e., Diversification of Shariah Contract.
• Proactively involve with the discussion/project on product innovation and enhancement initiated by authorities/ association i.e., BNM, AIBIM.
Provide Shariah Advisory and Approvals
To proactively engage by providing Shariah advisory and approvals by ensuring and reviewing the following:
• SCRC application received from Business Units.
• Marketing/promotional/campaign collateral materials/activities/documentation received from relevant stakeholders.
• Variation of products and services’ features.
• Shariah issues/queries pertaining to Bank’s products and services.
• Others; Complaints, Outsourcing, Legal, etc
