Sr. Software Development Engineer
We are looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join our Shelby, NC team!
As our Sr. Software Development Engineer, you will plan, design, perform verification, and overall coordination for safety-certified aerospace actuation applications.

Your Challenge
Meet objectives needed for safety-certified software for aerospace applications per DO-178C and/or other customer-specific objectives
Apply knowledge of software certification to system-level (ARP4754 / ED-79) and safety aspects (ARP4761 / ED-135).
Develop plans and standards then works with process assurance to ensure compliance
Advise on resources and infrastructure needs to accomplish assigned tasks
Create and manage software requirements in collaboration with other disciplines
Generate design documentation, block diagrams, state diagrams, timing analysis, etc.
Develop software test environments and software test plans
Use knowledge of low-level processor peripherals to meet design requirements
Generate high quality specifications, reports, publications, and support proposals.
Implement software on target devices and performs or oversees software verification in a lab environment
Utilize understanding of software design process including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, integration and test.
Review vendor experience and capability to support software development.
Other duties as necessary.
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering. Master's Degree is a plus.
Minimum 10+ years' in a similar role.
Software Languages required: C
Experience with DO-178C / ED-12C software certification.
Experience in the development of actuator and motor controllers.
Software or firmware development experience for embedded (e.g. bare metal) controllers.
Experience with Python is an asset.
Experience with pre-contract customer discussions, briefing technical capabilities, conducting in-person trade study discussions, including schedule and cost impacts and shaping technical requirements.
Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office and Visio.
Refined soft skills for coaching/mentoring and working with other team members.
Excellent analysis and decision-making skills.
Strong customer interface capabilities and negotiation skills required.
Ability to interact and collaborate with internal and external program management.
Creativity, innovation, and commitment to excellence with the ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment. Ability to work in a team environment.
Customer focused with a bias towards action.
US citizenship required. Security clearance is a plus.
