Role Overview:                      

A member of the Business Development team to drive the growth strategy in the Southeast Asia markets and contribute to achieving RGA’s financial targets.
 

What you will do:

  • Drive and prioritize reinsurance quotations and business acquisition activities. These include but not limited to execution of daily quote activities (reinsurance term sheet / proposal preparation), client status reports on treaties and accounts, and proactively manage client requests.
  • Liaise internally across functional teams to ensure the company’s deliverables are meeting client’s needs and satisfying RGA’s service standards.
  • Establish strong working relationships with clients of RGA.
  • Negotiate on behalf of RGA and to manage multiple projects as well as reinsurance quotations.
  • Perform research and analyze latest marketing/product trends in the Southeast Asian markets and present results internally and externally.
  • Create marketing materials, internal management reports and manage RGA intellectual capital (e.g. client relationship updates, library etc.)
  • Lead or assist in project work including establishing internal reports, analyzing profitability of existing treaty lines and business case proposals.
  • Maintenance of SEA client accounts database in RGA Client Relationship system (Kapta). Responsible for creating and maintaining SEA view of assigned clients, including RGA’s business relationships, key client contacts, and clients’ strategies, financials and operational objectives.
  • Leads process to develop client plans ensuring coordination and alignment with RGA’s Regional offices and assists the BDs in the development of specific client plans that identify the key business opportunities and initiatives.
  • Work with the BDs to plan, coordinate and manage responses to global or regional client initiatives (such as Requests for Proposals). Develop processes and lead activities to ensure effective internal collaboration and awareness of client key business, development, and relationship initiatives.
  • Support Head of Business Development on other business matters and tasks as and when required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related disciplines
  • FSA qualification or equivalent, aspiring students progressing well in exams may also apply
  • 5+ years’ experience in a life insurance, insurance consulting or reinsurance company, experience in product development or pricing
  • 2-3+ years of reinsurance experience with exposure to client facing work (marketing, business development) or with significant exposure to reinsurance as part of the job will be preferred
  • Excellent client services skills with exceptional ability to manage clients’ relationships as well as conflicts
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view; proficiency in another Southeast Asian language is strongly preferred
  • Strong critical and innovative thinking, with the ability to develop business insights, resolve complex problems and deliver solutions as well as recommendations
  • Highly motivated, results oriented and solutions focused
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to partner with internal & external stakeholders in a collaborative manner
  • Ability to travel 25% to 30%
