This is a fully remote role supporting our GMP Lab in Middleton, Wisconsin. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US.  Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.

Discover Impactful Work:

The Senior Manager, Business Management will provide leadership and work closely with business managers within the GMP BU within the Analytical Services Division (ASD) to drive new business and work closely with lab operations to ensure successful transition into the laboratories.  The Senior Manager will be responsible to establish and maintain a training/onboarding process for new members of the team, establish standard ways of working, create and maintain tools, templates, and business processes to support the team, and drive maturity efforts to continue to evolve and meet the team and business needs.  As a part of this role, the Senior Manager will need to establish strong working relationships with other leaders across the GMP BU.

A Day in the Life:

  • Build business management bench strength (locally and globally), attracting, engaging, and developing a high-performing team.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage business management tools and templates and use automation where possible 
  • Audit the team to ensure the standard ways of working, tools, and templates are consistently used
  • Works closely with other leaders across the GMP BU (Commercial Finance, Operations, Sales Operations) to continue to improve our processes
  • Experience with challenging the current thought process of staff and status quo of business processes
  • Matrix Effectiveness:
    • Expertise in achieving planned results in a matrixed environment
    • Strong driver and influencer who can motivate and drive results through direct/indirect reports and through creation of strong networks across a highly matrixed global organization.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10+ years).
  • 5+ years of management responsibility
  • Proven leadership skills

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

  • Ability to work with and present at all levels of the organization, including Sr. VP/GM’s
  • Effective oral and written communication and executive presentation skills
  • Process oriented and structured working style and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Well organized with the ability to work under pressure and deliver work to highest standard
  • Results-oriented team player who can build strong professional relationships
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, utilizing a disciplined approach to critical thought
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational influence skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management
  • Working knowledge of financial systems, reporting dashboards and applicable business systems related to Thermo Fisher Scientific

Policy and Strategy:

Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect departments and subordinate sections of work units.  Interprets company-wide policies and procedures.  Develops budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Management Role:

Directs through lower management levels and/or highly skilled specialist employees who exercise significant latitude and independent judgement.  Often heads one or more departments or a large centralized staff function.  In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and now have subordinate supervisors or employees.  May manage employees across multiple regions.
