Position Summary

The Brown School Student Financial Services Assistant performs administrative functions related to financial aid administration and provides services and support to guide Brown School graduate students through the financial aid process.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with administrative processes for aid packaging, adjustments, and disbursements in the PowerFAIDS financial aid management system; verifies accuracy and compliance; maintains secondary tracking database and ensures data consistency across admissions, financial aid, and student information systems.
  • Monitors departmental email account and responds to inquiries requiring comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, admissions, and financial aid policies and procedures; fields questions and provides resources and information regarding financial aid options, application procedures, eligibility requirements, tuition and fees, cost of attendance, tuition remission and scholarship, fellowships and assistantships, campus-based work opportunities, external funding opportunities, individual budgets, payment and repayment options, and financial obligations.
  • Meets with current and prospective students to assist in navigating strategies for funding their graduate education; presents detailed financial aid information with a student-centered approach.
  • Administers application process for Brown School emergency funds and tuition gap assistance.
  • Provides administrative support to the director and adjacent departments as needed; assists with special projects and programming.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$19.29 - $29.91 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
