As External Maintenance Project Manager will be accountable to the External Maintenance Manager Oversight, to ensure that the Group base maintenance activities, are executed by approved external Part 145 providers, and will without exception meet the Qantas core values of Safety, Quality, and Compliance to ensure airworthiness for safe operations, with best commercial outcomes for the Group. It is a unique, matrixed and challenging role the supports offshore maintenance.

You will lead and execute key strategic maintenance plans across the Group (incl QLink, Freight and Jetstar), to provide a full suite services as the point of contact for contracted Base Maintenance activity at our global locations in the Middle East and South East Asia. As the focal you will be responsible for the end to management, your strong technical background and ability to foster relationships both internal and external across all levels of management and cultures will help you to ensure the delivery of the aircraft as per contracted agreement for turnaround time and budget.

You’ll have:

  • 10+ years of airline experience, with a strong understanding of airline operations, maintenance / compliance and commercial framework

  • Previous experience in aviation base maintenance.

  • Tertiary qualifications Business Degree or an Aircraft Trade is advantageous

  • Experience in managing offshore base maintenance checks both large body and Wide body.

  • Be customer centric and have a commercial focused approach

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communications skills (both written and verbal)

  • Technical knowledge of aircraft systems.

  • Understanding of commercial aspects of project management and ability to negotiate commercial terms for best outcomes.

  • Strong project management managing projects starting at $5 million

  • Strong team player with the ability to fit in and work with varying backgrounds and cultures to complete tasks and best outcomes.

  • Ability to travel and work offshore for extended periods of time.

  • Understanding of safety systems and reporting.

  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer on A380, A330 or B787 is desirable

  • Ability to speak French and or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is desirable
