JOB SUMMARY:
The VP, US Manufacturing – MDS role will have overall responsibility for leading and directing all manufacturing sites under BD Medication Delivery Service (MDS) business in the US. This Senior Leader will be responsible for plant SQDC performance, cost improvement, customer service performance, inventory management, and the building of future talent. Additionally, in collaboration with global functions, this role has the responsibility for long-range capacity planning and long-term strategies for optimization of manufacturing operations. This role is accountable to deploy global Integrated Supply Chain strategies and to provide oversight and leadership to 5 US sites including Canaan, CT; Columbus (West), NE; Sandy, UT; North America Molding Center, (NAMc) – Columbus, NE, and Holdrege, NE.
This role will also have significant interface with manufacturing sites outside of their direct responsibility requiring significant collaboration with peers in broader MDS/BD Medical Essentials/BDX.
This role will report directly to the VP ISC, MDS and participate on the MDS ISC Extended Leadership Team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Performance:
Translates BU/Platforms strategy into a global Integrated Supply Chain strategy.
Fosters continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and manufacturing best practices.
Drives a growth mindset and lean thinking/manufacturing concepts through all manufacturing and administrative functions with a focus on improving end-to-end value streams.
Commits to, champions, and models the BD Excellence program across the manufacturing network.
Drives targeted performance in the Integrated Supply Chain end-to-end.
Works collaboratively with Manufacturing Leaders and Teams to develop, implement, and leverage creative solutions to solve business needs within the manufacturing network.
Ensures with support of global functions a capex strategy is in place to deliver on long term BU growth plans.
Consistently evaluates network optimization and overall architecture development including the sterilization and logistics network.
Matures and executes Digital Roadmap through selective technology strategy and investment plan to achieve Cost, Cash and Services targets enabling growth for the business.
Facilitates learning, knowledge sharing, and benchmarking across plants to identify deficiencies and excellence in plant operational and business effectiveness.
Supports the ISC NPD strategy including (but not limited to) fit for manufacturing, network architecture, capability requirements and supplier selection.
Ensures compliance of manufacturing facilities and divisional locations to Quality/Safety/Regulatory/EEOC/Environmental Regulations/ESG goals.
Has ownership and responsibility of inventory objectives and accomplishment of service level goals.
Manages Finished Goods Product planning activities against divisional objectives.
Organizational & Planning:
Partners with Business leaders to ensure effective execution of the S&OP and long-term planning processes.
Integrates functional approaches across the E2E Value Stream.
Manages large complex matrixed organizations and builds partnerships with BU, IQSC functional/regional peers to define and execute ISC strategy in response to market and technology changes, & the business transformation
Develops, communicates, and executes ISC strategic priorities, including inventory reduction and optimization, across organization, ensuring alignment to goals.
Drives the Agile Supply Chain.
People Leadership & Culture:
Develops pipeline of talent throughout the manufacturing locations in partnership with plant leadership and Human Resources.
Provides leadership and has full accountability for end-to-end ISC performance, including day-to-day oversight of manufacturing operations, ensuring short- and long-term goals are met, and capability building.
Provides ongoing feedback regarding performance against objectives.
Leads organization’s strategy to achieve “Global Employer of Choice”, including ensuring execution of The Good Jobs Strategy, robust talent pool, succession plans and ongoing associate development.

Network & Representation
Effectively networks across the BDX Business/Region/Central teams to build trust and influence as well as leverage expertise to drive results.
Participates, as necessary, in due diligence activities for acquisitions of companies, product lines and new technology.
Key member of the MDS ISC Extended Leadership Team.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum BS\BA required; Engineering concentration preferred.
MBA preferred.
Fifteen (15) years direct experience in operations leadership, including developing and executing operations strategies.
Plant Management experience required. Experience leading multiple facilities required.
Demonstrated ability to drive transformational change, including improvement in high-speed lines and manual operations.
Independent and autonomous in driving global Supply Chain priorities.
Hands on experience in supply planning, SIOP/IBP, ERP, MRP and advanced analytics.
Demonstrates strong results orientation.
Proven track-record of implementing change, driving cost improvements, and increasing efficiencies.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to optimally network and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
Strong experience in a Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment.
Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Mindset:
Clear examples of transformation, specifically around change management and network redesign.
Ability to demonstrate a track record of going beyond roles that are primarily sustaining in nature.
Experience in discrete medical device manufacturing preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications with an ability to engage and mobilize individuals, teams, and the broader organization.
Proven track-record of building strong teams and a talent pipeline.
Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring.

Work Environment:
In-office (4 days per week in a BD office, when not traveling) or Remote - depending upon hire's location.
Heavy US travel required to various BD manufacturing sites and BD's HQ in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
